We have lots of OUTDOOR SEATING, including tables under a covered patio and a secluded cabana. We are an unpretentious small farm winery - no fancy food trucks, no live music, no membership fees, just award-winning wines. We welcome your dog, too! Come up our long driveway to our hideaway in the woods.
And beware of our vineyard dog Lily - she sometimes cannot hold her licker! Two other Wellborn Wines, Deep Purple Lenoir and Red Clay Rose won silver medals from among 315 entries. Wines of the South is an annual regional wine competition that began in 2001 to promote and celebrate the great tastes of Southern vintages.

Services
At Wellborn Winery, we produce wines that reflect the history and nature of our upstate South Carolina climate and soil, what the French call "terroir". Before going "pro", we brought in fine grapes and juices from California and Chile to produce some excellent "varietals" (single grape wines). In 2014 we won a double gold at the Florida State Fair for a Merlot we made from grapes from the Sonoma Valley.
For your special event, reserve the "Wine in the Woods Cabana"! Nestled at the edge of the vineyard and tasting area near our woods, the Cabana is a perfect spot to host a small party of 6-20 guests. It's always shady and cool there, with covered seating for 12 guests and outdoor seating for another 4-8 friends.
We're about 1 mile from the intersection of Highway 25 and Highway 290 (Locust Hill Road) at 254 Mush Creek Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690-9231. On Fridays & Saturdays, look for our sign on Mush Creek Road, then turn up our long driveway into the "Winery in the Woods"! Go up to the circle and park, then saunter down to the tasting area.
On the last Sunday of January, Debbie hosted a Crochet and Sip event with ace instructor Joyce as 17 ladies learned how to make fantastic winter hats while enjoying a complimentary glass of wine. Some actually finished their hats during the 2-hour event, while others applied finishing touches at home.

I met the Wellborn’s at Paris Mountain with their cute dog Lily…..such a nice family. They invited me out to the wine tasting on Friday. I’m so glad I made time to visit before heading back to Ga. their hospitality was amazing and the wine was equally great. I pulled out a bottle this evening and was reminded just how much I enjoyed my experience ❤️

Took my husband there for his birthday. I had researched other wineries and found Welborn to be decently priced especially for novice wine tasters like us. But what made this place so special was how they made our experience personable and unforgettable. The owners were the sweetest. We will definitely be back!! Highly recommend!!

We had brunch in DT Gville before heading to this winery and had a wonderful time here. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, the wines were very good, and the outdoor area was very relaxing. I loved chatting with the owners about how they got started in the business. Hopefully I can make it back again very soon!

Wellborn is a hidden gem! Tucked back in the South Carolina pines, you'll find a unique winery with a family feel. The owners are incredibly friendly, making you feel like you're in your own backyard. They encourage you to walk the property and get an up close and personal look at the vines!
They offer tastings and full bottles. The tastings are 5 samples for $6 or 10 for $10. They have a vast selection of white and reds, as well as dessert wines. My personal favorite was the Appalachian White.
We'll absolutely visit here again next time we're in town.

Splendid hosts, world-traveled, fascinating conversation, outstanding vintages, unique to the upstate. Award-winning , excellent variety. $10 tasting menu includes White, Rose, Red, and Dessert Wines and a logo wine glass. Other options, as well. 10% case discounts start at 3 bottles. Charming, quiet, semi-rustic upstate pace. Carriage House b&b can be booked on airb&b. We will be back!

We actually accidentally ran into the Wellborn Winery during a girls' weekend and ended up loving the wines. We went in for a wine tasting and were super impressed with Tony, his wine knowledge, and his passion for the business. The atmosphere was laid back and very welcoming and the surroundings are very peaceful and relaxing. One of my favorite wines was the Rustic Red while my friend picked the Deep Purple as her fav. We have been to a few wineries and done enough tastings, but this one was the most enjoyable wines we have had. Well done, Tony and Deb!
