Dr. Catherine Pointon graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in biochemistry. She graduated in 1990 from New York Medical College where she completed both residencies in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. She was board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1993 and the American Board of Dermatology in 1996.
We use the latest aesthetic procedures including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser resurfacing to improve cosmetic appearance. Injectable wrinkle relaxers and fillers such as Juvederm and Botox are uniquely customized per patient to ensure the most natural results. With our specialized treatment of hair, skin, and nails, we provide thorough diagnosis for skin ailments from rosacea to skin cancer to find the best treatment for you.
Dermatology Practice of the Carolinas provides the newest, most innovative aesthetic treatments in and around the Ballantyne area, including chemical peels, facials, eyelash extensions, laser treatments, and microdermabrasion. Our injection specialist is a board-certified nurse practitioner with 12 years of combined nursing and medical aesthetic experience. She cares deeply about each patient, listening to the patient and forming the plan of care with the patients concerns in mind while using her expertise and her eye for the artistic side of facial injectables to customize each patient's unique treatment for the most natural results.
Dermatology is a field of medicine concerned with treating conditions and diseases that may affect the health of the hair, skin, and nails. A dermatologist is required to attend four years of medical school, followed by at least four years of post-graduate training. Treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions including, acne, psoriasis, warts, and fungal, viral or bacterial infections.

Definitely agree with the last reviewer. We’ve been going to this practice for many years now, four members of the family in all. Over the past several years, constant billing errors and being billed for services from previous year. Again, just like the previous reviewer, it is not uncommon for them to cancel an appointment. Not friendly office staff and billing folks typically have no idea what they are doing when you call to make a payment. Doctors are great so we would like to continue to go there, but today is the last straw, I think. Had an appointment scheduled for over a month now and

I started going to this practice about 10 years ago. Initially, they offered good services and were friendly, but they have progressively declined over the years.
During COVID I had an appointment for my daughter that was cancelled twice. The second time they told me they would call me to reschedule but never did so I had to find a different provider to assist.
I decided to give them another chance today, again for my daughter. When we arrived, without even a hello, we were told that our insurance would not work there. I explained that I had been there before along with other family members and

I've been with this dermatology practice for about 10 years now, primarily for acne, and I love it here. Rebecca is my current dermatologist and she is extremely caring and knowledgeable. She is always learning about new products and techniques, I trust her opinion completely. Everyone here is so kind, I hope I never have to leave!
