Field Sobriety Tests are a name given to a group of tests, mainly physical coordination tasks, that are given to individuals suspected of Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs by the police, prior to arrest. They are considered an investigation tool and, as such, they are VOLUNTARY, unless you are on probation for a prior offense and ordered to complete them.
The first and most imperative thing is to protect your driver's license. You have only 10 days to contact DMV at their Driver Safety Division and request an Administrative Per Se Hearing and a stay of suspension until the hearing date. If you do not do this within 10 days of your arrest your license will be automatically suspended effective 30 days from the date of your arrest.

I was arrested and charged with DUI for a combination alcohol and drugs charge. Tom Nash is the best. He went above and beyond to help us last summer, and I meant to write a rave review at that time. We recently received a notice from the court regarding last summer's case. So, I called Tom for his advice. He instantly remembered us and asked me to fax him the notice. He then made a phone call and got back to us right away with the information we needed. Not many people will drop everything and help someone on the spot. Hopefully we don't need his services ever again, but for someone who does - I would definitely recommend Tom.
