The Kobukai Jujitsu Dojo was founded in 1993. The technical curriculum at Kobukai Jujitsu is a combination of the best techniques from ZenBudo-Ryu Aiki Jujitsu (founded by Hanshi Duke Moore in the 1960s), Kodenkan Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu (founded by Prof. Seishiro Okazaki in the 1930s), Yoshida AikiJutsu (a version of Daito-Ryu Aikijutsu done by Yoshida Kotaro), and Military Combatives.
Shihan St. Hilaire and training partner Sensei Carvalko took the most effective techniques from these styles which they had studied and combined them into the Kobukai Jujitsu Curriculum. What sets Kobukai Jujitsu Dojos apart from others is the Teaching Methodology which uses a building block approach to learning and understanding Jujitsu.

For anybody that's interested in martial arts, this is the real deal. There is something very special about this dojo. Every martial arts movie I have seen, books I have read and fights I have watched, every class the spirit of a true martial art comes to life here. Training at this place is intense and at times painful. I was a 105 lb weakling when I walked in the door for the first time. I gained 20 lbs over the course of a few years of rock solid muscle and corresponding functional strength. Aside from physical strength, they have also toughened my spirit and heart. It would take a lot to break

I've been training at Kobukai since November 2010. A friend recommended it to me suggesting that I watch a class. I did not know it at the time, but he had done me a great favor.
I initially joined to improve my fitness level, followed by a desire to learn self-defense and lastly build confidence. It's funny, because in hindsight I realize my fitness and self-defense proficiency have improved because I've become more confident. Thanks Kobukai!
Instructors and fellow students train hard (it's rigorous); I wouldn't have it any other way. I welcome every class, savor challenges, and look forward

It will be one year next month since I've joined the Kobukai Ju-Jitsu Dojo, and I've trained in other martial arts, and I can say without a doubt that Kobukai is one the most efficient, well-rounded, schools out there; it's self-defense in it's truest form. The head instructor is a 7th degree black belt and has been a studying the art for over 30 years. In addition to that, he was a hand-to-hand combat and riot control instructor in the U.S. Army. I'd recommend this dojo to anyone who is looking for a place that will challenge them, both physically and mentally, and looking for a complete answer
