For more than 105 years, Kimball Funeral Home has been Whitman County's second oldest and best known name in funeral service. Kimball Funeral Home was founded in 1908 by Darwin D. Kimball - undertaker and furniture maker. The original funeral home was located downtown until 1931 when, after dealing with the spring floods for many years, the Kimballs moved the funeral home to its present location on South Grand Avenue.
In addition to establishing the funeral home in Pullman, Darwin Kimball and his sons also established and operated the funeral homes in Palouse and Tekoa, Washington before selling them to Jack Kramer. Darwin's son, Dale Kimball, operated the funeral home until his retirement in 1969 when the business was assumed by his sons Howard & Phil Kimball.

Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
