We started as a college club more than fifteen years ago. After our head instructor moved back from Korea--where he was working in taekwondo--we became a professional martial arts school in the historic, downtown Kyle. In less than three years, we emerged as one of the leading academies in the area with students of all ages and abilities.
Our programs include preschoolers, children, teens, adults, and seniors. We strive to be a place where you can train your whole life and learn everything the martial arts has to offer. We are driven to create a better world through the study of the martial arts simply teaching the techniques is not enough.

A great teacher leads by example. The values that we instill in our students are the same warrior virtues that we strive to live by ourselves. Being a teacher is like tending a flame. You got to have the right piece of wood for the moment. You don't want to start with the biggest logs. You start with the smaller sticks.

My 7 year old daughter began classes at the end of November. She has tried ballet, cheer, modern dance, etc. She is relatively shy and had difficulty jumping into anything that is physically demanding or where she has to speak or be assertive. However, Master Olds was capable of encouraging her without a lot of pressure. She absolutely loves going to classes at Rising Phoenix. As a mom and veteran preschool teacher, I can say that he has what it takes to work with young children and people in general. I've seen him get preschoolers into lessons that I actually thought they would never participate

My family started here a few months back trying to get into shape and spend time together. We were very impressed with Master Olds, his staff, and most importantly the community they have built. We have made new friends, are actively getting back into shape, and spending focused time together as a family. If anyone is thinking of trying out any kind of martial arts, I recommend trying Rising Phoenix in Kyle, TX first. They have something for everyone that are willing to focus and have self-discipline.
