U.S. Congress passes the Wilderness Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and Endangered Species Act. 27 distinct runs of salmon and steelhead, as well as Bull Trout and white sturgeon are listed as Threatened or Endangered in the western U.S.
MHE fisheries scientists have conducted studies in watersheds throughout the Pacific Northwest and California, including data collection and analysis projects for various salmonids and non-salmonid species.
