The Sturgeon Lake Restoration Project on Sauvie Island in northwest Oregon is a massive 10-year engineering and habitat restoration effort led by West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District. The project is designed to reconnect the Columbia River to Sturgeon Lake and enhance the riparian buffer along Dairy Creek, the channel that connects the river to the lake.
South of Forest Grove lies a series of hills, forests, and wetlands that connect the interior headwaters of the Tualatin Valley to the coast range. With multiple public land management agencies involved, the area is being transformed into a wildlife corridor spanning thousands of acres. Low value agricultural fields are being converted into emergent wetlands where thousands of waterfowl now thrive.
Urban natural areas, though often small and fragmented, provide critical ecological services including water filtration and cooling, nectar for pollinators, and forage and habitat for all kinds of wildlife. Whether in a backyard, next to the interstate, behind a strip mall, or in an industrial park, Mosaic Ecology works to improve habitat there.
Mosaic Ecology manages dozens of Wetland Mitigation sites for a wide variety of clients. From delineation to compliance monitoring we ensure projects comply with state and federal regulations. As experts in establishing resilient plant communities, we can design, install and maintain diverse wetland habitats.
