Originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, we moved to the Big Island to live our dream of owning a coffee farm and vacation rental. We first visited Hawaii while on our honeymoon. Like most people, we fell in love with the islands and dreamed of living in paradise. Some of our best times together were spent turning our backyard in Pennsylvania into a miniature Hawaii.
The Tree Top Apartment is a private second floor apartment with ocean and mountain views. The cathedral ceilings, sky light and sliding glass door to the lanai invite in the sun and outdoors to the apartment. At approximately 750 square feet, the apartment accomodates four people. Our farm is at a comfortable 1000 foot elevation so air conditioning is not needed.
We have 100% Kona Coffee available for sale. The coffee is grown on our farm, hand picked, dryed in the Hawaiian sun and roasted fresh for your order. The coffee is roasted medium-dark which is known as the Kona roast. The Kona roast is the ideal roast for Kona coffee. However, if you prefer a different roast, please specify your preference in the comments.
With the beautiful Pacific ocean outside of your door, there are boundless water activities. We are situated between Honaunau Bay and Kealakekua Bay. Honaunau which is known locally as Two Step is terrific spot for snorkeling and shore diving. The reef hosts sea turtles known in Hawaiian as honu, dolphins, and hundreds of fish.
We grow 100% Kona coffee on our farm. We have several orchards organized in rows on the hill side as well as several plantings in the shade of tall macadamia nut trees. Our farm is lined with 186 macadamia nut trees that provide us with a bountiful harvest. In addition to the coffee and nuts, we have many varieties of fruit trees.

Killino Farm is a slice of heaven on the Big Island! It has all the amenities of home with an island vibe. Todd and his family are wonderful hosts and even offered us a tour of the farm, where they grow Kona coffee, macadamia nuts, tons of fruits and tropical plants. He also gave us plenty of suggestions on snorkel spots, food options, and fabulous beaches - always just a text away should we need something. The higher elevation keeps it cool at night and the secluded location makes for quiet, peaceful mornings. As other reviewers have mentioned, definitely rent an SUV to navigate the driveway

The farm is gorgeous and the house is perfect. Great bed, nature sounds all day, no lights outside to block the view of the stars. It was a piece of heaven I don't want to leave. The inn keepers are just amazing and really helped up figure out how to enjoy the island: the central location is amazing my only suggestion to renters is rent an SUV the gravel road to the house can be really tricky.

We stayed a week at Killino Farms - a real Kona coffee farm near Captain Cook. It was great staying there and living like a local. Todd and his family are great hosts. Provided very good information on where to go for snorkel, beach, farm markets, shopping, and other Big Island highlights. The place had all we needed and was so beautiful to wake up each morning and sit on the lanai and have breakfast or watch the sunset in the evening. I cannot wait to return.
