We are dedicated to creating unique gourmet meals seven days a week. We believe in quality ingredients, preparing food from scratch in small batches, seasonal fruits and vegetables, homemade breads, and supporting local farms with our specials. The environment is important to us; almost all of our restaurant's waste is composted or recycled and all disposables are compostable.
We have sunny walls, local artwork, window herbs, free wi-fi, colorful chalkboards and an enormous collection of mugs that all contribute to our vibrant cafe. Upon arrival please take a menu, a mug and help yourself to coffee from our self serve coffee station. We provide outside seating from April to November.

Super surprise to find this such a tasty, friendly and great value place.
3 of us went, 3 berry muffin was amazing.
Bagel lox and cream cheese was great, even though it was eaten a few hours later.
The ridge mount quesadilla was really tasty with goat cheese in it.
Extensive menu so everyone can find something there.
Would have liked it if they had more coffees to choose from. No lattes was a big disappointment.
A must try out.

Everything was excellent! I'm always skeptical of touch French toast because the middle is never as eggy as I would hope but the Franconia French toast was truly divine. The perfect amount of eggy goodness & crispy edges. My only gripe would be that the enormous white chocolate blackberry muffins I bought were so soft & buttery that I crushed them in the car but they were no less delicious💕

Thanks for ruining mother's day. I place an order online that was supposed to be ready in 50 minutes, I show on time a nd after 40 extra minutes calling many times asking what happened,and even going inside to… check on my order, they gave it to somebody else. I asked for my money back and even then they took about 10 more minutes to do so and the manager had the guts to call me rude when she followed me outside and I did not want to hear her apology. I was a long time loyal customer but with this display of carelessness they lost me as a customer.

I'm a diabetic and I called in an order and the hostess assured me that my food would be ready in 25 minutes, so I planned accordingly and took my insulin so I would be able to eat when I got my food. But that surely was not the case I've been here for almost an hour and my blood sugar is dangerously low. This is absolutely unacceptable and I'm am disgusted. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you like waiting quadruple the time they tell you. The kitchen and the workers had poor communication and that NEEDS to be improved.

Went to The Big Bean for their new quarter flip tonight and had the worst waitress. I understand people have crappy days and that may throw off your day but if you need to take an extra second to ask your manager a question to ensure your customer has a good experience do it. We asked at the beginning of quarter flip how much drinks were if you did not guess the quarter correctly. She said $5.25. When my bill came the well vodka drink was $7.00. Best breakfast in the seacoast area. The Dwight is the go to and has never disappointed. Get there early for a muffin before they sell out and order that bad boy grilled! A new location for an old favorite in New Market! Much larger than the other location. Same great taste! Very happy to have a Big Bean in Durham.
Today I made my own omelette and had a grilled biscuit... did not disappoint! Will be back again.
For those of you wondering, this location also has beer, liquor and wine. They still have the yummy muffins and self serve coffee, too!
