I was treated aka mistreated by this hospital when I had pneumonia with a lung abscess. I had an allergy bracelet on and I told them not to give me penicillin and they gave me zosyn and one of the nurses said it wasn't penicillin but it actually was. My veins and face swelled up because they gave me something I was allergic to. I was having a reaction and they didn't give me allergy medicines right away. If you have allergies and want to be listened to steer clear of this hospital.

I went in the hospital Wednesday due to having bad pain. My problem with this hospital is that sit around and chat all damn day other then doing their job. They gave me meds that made me sick not feel better. I had to stop taking the pills just to feel better. It takes them about 30-45 mins to come to your room after you pressed the button. If someone was dying they would be dead this hospital is to unprofessional it is disturbing. The supervisor was not helpful by the name of Angie. When I advised I wanted to give feedback about my visit she said okay umm.. go ahead as in I was bothering her

WOW less than 3 stars and that is WAY HIGH. The most unprofessional hospital organization I have seen. Be careful. They will not explain what your insurance may NOT cover and schedule you anyway telling "we accept your insurance". To make matters worse, they won't talk to you and tell you " that's your problem". I have two great Docs there, but have to schedule other locations for tests. Not only is is bad for patients, but the Docs are aware of the problem and not happy about it either.

I went in for a severe migraine and chest pain that was a result of the immense overall pain I was in. My doctor was great but the nurse I had blew two veins in my left arm and one in my right before I requested they not do the IV out of fear how much more this nurse would damage me trying to do it.
At one point the nurse said "it's not all the way in the vein but let's just try and then pumped the nausea medication in and it burned and made my skin bubble. That was when I screamed for the doctor because I was genuinely scared.
They were able to give me oral medication for everything

Very, very disappointing to realize a hospital once ranked at the top in Kansas City is now painfully crippled. The nursing staff is short handed and under educated. There are not enough aides. The whole place needs updating. And cleaning! The carpeting is dirty and shredded in places. My husband's bathroom had no towels or wash cloths. He was there eight miserable days and never had help brushing his teeth or washing his face. Had I not been allowed to be there with my husband, I feel he would not have made it through his stay. I dread to think what would have happened had he not had

I took my 94 yr old father there who presented with weakness and slurred speech. The ER dr was totally unprofessional and rude. He ordered blood work and a chest xray. I was told it all looked fine even as I explained to him my dad was not himself. I was asked by the dr what I wanted him to do. Obviously I'm not a dr but when I requested more tests be done because he'd had a TIA 6 months prior I was told it wasn't necessary because he'd done a cursory stroke exam and his blood work looked good. When I requested he be seen by his primary care physician he wanted to know why

Although we had good experiences at the hospital, their billing department and accounting department were really hard to get a hold of and it took us several months to finally talk to a person. When we did reach someone they were very rude and we were told they would ask their supervisor to call us. They sent us to a collection agency. Finally my husband was able to get through by not hanging up the phone and staying on hold for an extended amount of time. Bad business.

Family member taken to Saint Joseph Hospital. Was in ICU for 15 days - nursing care inconsistent. He was on vent approximately 2 weeks and had restraints. Unacceptable. Could not get nursing initially to provide a plan of care to his children. He developed pneumonia while on vent in ICU which made him stay longer. When he was transferred out of ICU children informed he is out of network and needs to find another hospital. While out of ICU nursing told his children they had to stay overnight and watch him since they did not have staff. This happened for two consecutive night and found out if hospital

MAKE SURE you're covered for whatever you come here for. Registration staff will tell you you're covered even if you're not.
I had a procedure done here because it was the closest hospital to my house. I was called for prereg the day before. After getting all of my info, the persons says, "you know we're not in your network, right?" . Then says says it's ok, because they'll match benefits, and since its a preventative procedure, I will not receive a bill. Covered 100%. Well, they LIED to me. Six months later, I get a bill for over $400. I called my insurance

We are in the community Center at St. Joseph Medical Center getting educated about lupus from Dr. Mark Box (rheumatologist). We are grateful to have him donate his time to do this.
The community center is a good location to hold a conference or large meeting. However, it can be hard to find. It's attached to the hospital, north of the emergency room entrance.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the emergency room at St. Joseph Medical Center. I was not admitted, so this review is for the emergency room only.
I was treated quickly and compassionately. All of the nurses that had a part in my care and treatment were pleasant, professional, and appeared to be very skilled at what they do.
I did not spend a great deal of time with the physician, but treatment and medications that she ordered expedited my recovery...sooooo, I'm gonna say She was GREAT!

My father had spine surgery here right before Christmas. Parking out front as a visitor was simple. An elderly volunteer from the information desk walked me all the way to the surgery waiting area and was very pleasant and sincerely concerned for my pops' well-being.
The waiting room was pleasant enough with a computer for Internet usage, chairs large enough to sleep in, and a really nice system where the surgery area calls down and gives you updates on status.
Recovery/housing room was very clean and modern and the nursing and rehabilitation staff were incredibly kind and friendly.

Last month, one evening, I drove to the emergency room with an incredible pain around the left side of my abdomen. I thought I would faint from the pain and decided it would be best if I fainted in a hospital than at home, alone. This was the closest hospital to me and I was pretty sure it was in my healthcare provider's network.
I parked in the parking lot and had to walk further than I cared to, holding my left side. There was no indication of valet service, or I would have used it. When I entered the emergency room, no one was in site. I even looked around for a little bell to ring. No
