Wai Nani Surf Paddle & Pedal was created out of the passion, enjoyment and escape that one can experience when wandering the water on trails or on a paddleboard, kayak or bike. The company was founded in 2010 by Holly Evans, an avid Lake Minnetonka sailor and passionate water enthusiast. Lake Minnetonka is a Mdewakantonwan Dakota word which means "Big Water"; the name Wai Nani pays tribute to paddleboarding's Polynesian origin.
We have a referral relationship with two great family-owned Minnesota companies - Grey Duck & Idol focused on bringing quality products to outdoor enthusiasts. They are possibly short staffed but my calls and emails for assistance booking a group went unanswered. I also asked them to reschedule an appointment but by the time they got back to me, back no reservations were available. I wouldn't book here again based only on customer service, but the time on the lake was nice.

I returned to Wai Nani for their Excelsior location this time (previously enjoyed Wayzata). I had a reservation for 4pm, but was late due to not being able to find the rental spot. The website lists the address as 135 Lake St, Excelsior, MN, but based on Apple Maps their location is more accurately described as West Lake Street or First Street, as there is a baseball diamond at 135 Lake Street.
We called the company for help as we were lost and to let them know we were running late as a result, and they were unsympathetic but eventually got us to the right spot (albeit late for an only one hour

Highly recommend Wai Nani surf & paddle! We rented 5 boards today and had a great time. The rental location was maybe 30ft from the water, they had cubbies for storage that was (mostly) watched by the staff, the boards were high quality, easy parking, and we were offered protein bars as a snack! Definitely will rent here again!

I was in need of a family outing for a family of 4 with two adult kids in their 20's. I thought this would be something we might all enjoy and I was right! The equipment was clean and easy to understand. We got a thorough instruction. As a mom, I felt very safe about it. Our grown kids loved it. Our daughter said she wants to return with her boyfriend. It was new and fun!
