Maps Credit Union
In response to the rise of mobile banking scams, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recently published new guidance on unauthorized electronic funds transfers, or EFTs. With more people using electronic banking as a holdover from pandemic times, it's important for consumers to be aware of its vulnerabilities and how to protect themselves from scams.

Here's what you need to know about the risks of mobile banking and how to stay safe. This year, we awarded over $28,500 in scholarships to Mid-Willamette Valley graduating seniors! View the winners here.

I went in because I wasn't understanding an issue I had with my account. Nicholas Williams listened to my problem, took care of it, and explained it to me so I would not have this issue in the future. A+ customer service!

So far very disappointed in Maps. My husband and I bought a car in August and provided Maps with our proof of insurance. Everything was fine until last month when we were charged doubled for our car payment. After contacting Maps, they stated that they did not have proof of insurance on our vehicle so they added insurance to our loan, doubling our monthly payment and adding over $4000 to the back end of our loan, all of this was done WITHOUT CONTACTING US. After a very long phone conversation and lots of wait times, I was told that they don’t have any real answers for me on why this happened

We had our auto loan from here and they screwed us over a few times saying we didn't make our payment when we did, then threatened to confiscate our vehicle if we didn't pay. So I wouldn't recommend taking a auto loan from these people they like to randomly not get your payment. Nothing but issues with these people, go somewhere else.

The tellers here are always kind and courteous, And the premises are always clean and comfortable. Going to the bank never feels like an errand when you bank with MAPS.

MAPS is a joke. I sold a boat I had a loan on through them and the rep I spoke with at the Stayton location assured me my account was closed after the buyer paid off the loan in full. The only reason I had a MAPS account was for my boat loan because at the time they had the lowest rates. Fast forward 8 months and I get a notice in the mail saying my account is negative because there’s been a “maintenance fee” every month for the last 8 months. The account should have been closed when the boat was sold, they simply dropped the ball. Then to get a statement 8 months later in the mail showing

Isiah, the assistant branch manager, helped me out a lot with getting a last minute contract notarized and showed outstanding concern and care for my needs. They've always done well. I have an account for myself and my LLC and I even got my mortgage through MAPS. They're great to deal with.

Always short lines, friendly staff, good mobile app. I totally see why people leave banks for credit unions now. I really like that even as the smaller guys, the website and the app are good and get updates decently frequently.

And because I was impatient I kept getting stared down by then a child manager Miguel. I politely asked him if I could help him he asked why ? I said because your staring at me me and making me feel uncomfortable! He said nothin. Never opening an account here.

I worked in banking for over a decade. Mostly with large banks from JPMorgan to Bank of America, and US Bank. MAPs is without a doubt the best consumer banking experience you can find in the area. It's not perfect, but it's so damned close that it hardly matters. Ditch your bank and move your accounts. You won't regret it.

It's a nice bank. Although the line inside and at the drive thru can get quite long. Much prefer the one in Keizer.

I switched to MAPS after a bad experience at Wells Fargo. At first they were really helpful and it felt like the perfect place. Now they are rude when I call on the phone, they charge a fee if your account is not used, they force you to switch to MasterCard even if you don't want to, and they hold your deposits for days and let your account go into the negative. This credit union is so full of bureaucracy that they don't even care about the average customer anymore.

There are so few banks or credit unions that offer actual free checking but MAPS is one of the last bastions of the free checking account! They have a great kids savings plan, too. My kids love that they get free stickers every time we come through the drive through station. The downside is limited hours compared to banks that are in grocery stores but the free checking makes it all worth it. You can check your balance or make transfers using their app on your smart phone. Open an account here, nowwwww!
