The San Anselmo Preschool Center is committed to the growth of each child in an emotionally supportive environment that encourages self-acceptance and self-exploration. We offer a program that blends teacher directed activities and self-initiated learning in a setting that includes art, music, dramatic play, pre-reading manipulatives, large motor activities, and "hands on" natural science.
Our philosophy respects the autonomy of the child in various different learning situations. Teachers are alert, and ready to protect, counsel and guide at the right moment. We believe that children can learn to work out problems and conflicts when given the opportunity. Our emphasis is on the process more than the product of learning.

Services
The San Anselmo Preschool Center is a non-profit corporation run by a volunteer Board of Directors under the auspices of the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo. The board is comprised of parents, past and present, church members and members of the Ross Valley community. The board administers school policies and maintains licensing standards established by the California State Department of Social Services.
I am so excited to introduce a new communication tool from your Board. We will be using this space to share fun, informative, or timely news that you might find interesting. As you have probably seen in your email, we have sent out a survey to all current parents about "SAPS 20/20". If you haven't had time, please take a few minutes to fill that out- your voice is so important to shaping the future of our school.

Full disclosure: My daughter doesn't go to SAP yet, but I just got back from my tour and was blown away by the facilities and the kindness of the staff. In fact, in just the 45 minutes I was there I learned two brilliant tricks from Elizabeth, the Executive Director, about how to get my toddler to a) clean up after activities and b) walk, not run, indoors!
I've been on the "preschool tour circuit" for the past two weeks and have pretty much seen every school in the area. SAP outshone them by far. The animals! The courtyard! The diversity of the students! We will absolutely be applying. Instead

San Anselmo Preschool (SAPS) is a place that celebrates a child’s individuality and creativity. They are a play based preschool that really brings joy to teaching a learning. I have my daughter there and I feel so confident and comfortable leaving her in the hands of the fantastic staff. She absolutely loves going to school and as a parent, I feel supported and in a partnership with her teachers. I love being part of the SAPS community and would recommend it highly!!

To say I was nervous about our little guy starting preschool would be an understatement. But from the very first morning at San Anselmo Preschool (SAPS), he has been stoked to walk in the doors, and I have felt confident that he is being lovingly cared for by the amazing teachers. He is always coming home having learned new songs, or completed a fun art project, and can't wait to go back the next day. It is a really special place to watch him grow and we are so grateful we found it!
