Our child spent 16 months at Youth Care and it was transformational. We are grateful for the compassionate and caring staff we encountered along the way. Their emphasis on DBT skills development, self awareness, self acceptance, and emotional regulation in a patient, safe environment was critical to his healing journey. We frequently ran into staff who described this as their “dream job,” to make a difference in the lives of struggling teens at Youth Care.
No parent wants to be in the position of placing their child in an RTC. Was it perfect here? No, but we consistently experienced this facility

My daughter was a resident at Youth Care for almost 6 months. She has come out stronger, more mature, able to communicate effectively, has gained tremendous insight, and uses the coping skills she learned nearly every day. She went from being depressed, angry ,hating herself , wanting to continue with drugs, and just not having any hope to being happy, drug free and optimistic about her future. The team of psychiatrists, therapists, and staff are all angels and she misses them so much. I feel like I have my daughter back and I can't say thank you enough for that.

I came here when I was 16, 5 years ago. I’m not sure if the therapist Ty still works here, but Ty was the person who got me to start changing my life around and helped me to start transitioning into a new mindset. The place was clean and staff generally nice. This place has some flaws for sure. In my experience, the helpful things outweighed the flaws. this place probably saved my life and gave me so many DBT skills I still use. I’m saddened to read negative reviews because I wish every patient could have the same life changing experience that I did.

First of all, shoutout Cali for being an absolute god among us. Anyways, I was in Youth Care for two months and it was by far the absolute worst two months of my entire life. I can’t say that it’s entirely Youth Care’s fault since my parents made the wrong decision of putting someone stable into a residential program, but the program itself was absolute hell. I couldn’t ask questions about the reasoning behind any punishments I received because it was seen as “challenging staff”, my anxiety was constantly through the roof because of the constant threats of punishments, and whenever

One of my close family members spent time here. We are so grateful to Youth Care for helping her learn what she needed. This is what she has to say...
"I spent about 4 months in residential and 2 months in day treatment at YouthCare and it was hard at first yes because they held me accountable for my choices and taught me to set boundaries and to not accept anything less than I deserve. I got to know the staff and patients and felt the staff genuinely cared and wanted us to succeed and move on with our lives. They truly changed my life and I’ll never forget the people I met and the things they

Told me they don't "reward" self harm by giving kids bandages, forcing me to put a second degree burn into direct sunlight. I told them my leg was infected, but they said I was exaggerating for attention. There was a point when it was black, or at least very dark brown. They finally let me go to the doctor when it was green, purple, white, and brown all at once. Attached is a photo of the two year old scar that left me with. It wouldn't have been that bad if I was taken to the doctor sooner.
Kids bullied me, and they let them because I was "victim stancing." First of all, I wasn't. Second, even

My son has learned many DBT skills at Youth Care and can handle life again. This facility and all the staff are caring and want the teens to succeed. Group therapy, individual therapy, chores, structure, expressive therapy, recreation, good nutrition, and family therapy are part of their approach. My son kept the other residents confidential and only referred to others as he was allowed with “Patient A.” He learned respect for others and empathy. Negative reviews may be from patients who were unwilling to turn their lives around. It takes work and practice and thankfully my son was willing

I know many of the negative reviews of this place are as a result of being sent to a residential treatment facility. For the most part being sent away from home and having a structured environment when you are used to doing whatever you want is difficult. The staff here truly are doing the best they can to care for often very troubled youth. It is a difficult job. This place is full of very qualified treatment professionals. Though the work is difficult, the young people being treated her make life saving changes. This place has been in operation since 1980. That is because of the quality work

I’ve seen a lot of poor reviews for this place, so I wanted to share my perspective.
I was at Youth Care for 6.5 months when I was 16. I hated it SO much at first... I tried everything I could do to manipulate the staff into letting me leave. It didn’t work. I was so angry at the world and hated everything. Once I was able to fully embrace the treatment, and shed the years of toxic coping skills I’d learned, I grew a lot. Youth Care changed my life. It also saved my life. Even thought the vast majority of my time there was spent with me being frustrated, it was necessary. The poor reviews

I used to work here. Therapists are mostly social workers who don't know what they are doing. I saw so many misdiagnoses, and their clinical director, Ted Barratt, doesn't really care about patients or staff. He is very narcissistic and full of himself. He gets offended easily and reacts like a child. I also witnessed staff lying or twisting facts. Like, they said something offensive to a patient, and the patient got upset and acted out, but they'd just tell everyone that the patient flew off the handle for no reason. I wouldn't trust my child with this place, and neither should you.

There are many, many options in treatment for teens out there and YouthCare is among the best. From admissions to therapy to nursing to recreation, fantastic! Amazing, experienced therapeutic services and care. The way they handled the experience with the onset of COVID has been role model. While there our son was always protected and walked out of there with a positive outlook, healthier and we are forever grateful. As for the financial part, their team working with our insurance was immensely helpful. Highly recommend.

It is not exaggerating to say that Youth Care saved our son's life. The holistic approach to treatment provided him skills, practice time and accountability. Our son is likely to face depression and anxiety through his life. He's now able to do that in healthy ways and we cannot thank Youth Care enough for helping him.

I am very thankful and grateful for this treatment center. From stepping in on day one, I felt very welcomed and informed. I searched and searched for the best program for my son with his addiction and very fortunate to have found this facility. The admissions staff, teachers, counselors and therapists all helped us get through this one day at a time. Shout out to Romeo K. for focusing on us and helping us heal as a family. I am so proud of my son Gregory for grasping the skills and using them still to this day. The tools he learned from Youthcare has helped him on his road towards success

My son was admitted October 2, 2017 and discharged May 5, 2018. I have nothing but good things to say about Youth Care. From enrollment personal, the staff of Brighton house, doctors, activity coordinator and Therapist! I was apprehensive to send my son away, I knew he needed help I wasn't able to give him. I was also exhausted with all the lying, stealing, drugs, alcohol, police and just the general disrespect my son was doing. YC provided a safe place for my son to face his addiction and learn the coping skills to help himself. As with any recovery, you need to want the help. It's not

As a parent, I highly recommend Youth Care Treatment Center. We were involved in all aspects of my child's treatment plan, the staff provided a safe and friendly environment, we enjoyed parent day participation and, most importantly, the therapy my child received while at Youth Care was exceptional - pretty much life changing. My child made more progress there than had been made in 10+ years of therapy elsewhere. But, there is no better recommendation than a recommendation from the person who actually stayed there:
