We are teachers and collaborators, eager to make evidence-based therapy practices relevant to your everyday life. Using both in-person and online approaches, we meet you where you are, so that coming to therapy fits into your busy life. Our goal is to outfit you with the tools you need to overcome challenges not just today, but in the future too.
We use evidence-based therapy approaches to treat anxiety disorders and especially intense obsessive-compulsive disorders. We can help with work stress, coworker conflict, defining new career directions, and with resume writing, LinkedIn tuning, and networking strategies.

The purpose of this document is to provide you with information about my qualifications, practice, and the rights you have, as the client of a Licensed Professional Counselor under Oregon Law (ORS 675.755 and OAR 833-050-0020). My general approach to counseling draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Our current office hours are Monday through Friday, 12pm-5pm. Availability in behavioral health practices can change quickly, however, and we will post updates here. We are in network with a few employee assistance plans. Please ask for current paneling details. It is important that you call your insurance ahead of your first appointment to confirm how therapy will be covered for you, if insurance coverage is vital.
When most people think of counseling, they think of meeting with a counselor in their office every week or two for approximately an hour. If you can make it to our NE Portland, Oregon office, this is a great way to work together.
Video therapy can help counseling fit into your life whether your work schedule is too busy for in-office appointments, or you live and work somewhere in Oregon or Washington that doesn't allow you to come to our office regularly. Most Employee Assistance Plans and insurance companies pay for video counseling, just as they do for in-office counseling.

While looking for a therapist, I came into contact with Katie Playfair. I was told that her schedule was full at the time, however, Katie would help me find a therapist. And she did! While she was helping me find a therapist with availability, she sent me emails reaffirming that she had not forgotten me and that she was still looking. I really felt that Katie cared. So while I have not received services from Katie, I would recommend her. She knows her resources and will share them.
