Family Employed Substitutes, or FES for short, is a term that Elder Care Connection uses to describe a domestic service employee. As defined by the Department of Labor, a domestic service employee is someone who provides services of a household nature in or about a private home. We use this term because it truly describes what the caregiver is.
As your loved one ages, their needs often become greater. If you are seeing some of the following changes, it may be time for a Geriatric Evaluation. Changes in managing their household; paying bills, purchasing groceries, difficulty making decisions. Loved one's appearance has deteriorated (unkempt, poor hygiene or dresses inappropriately).

Margaret Ramtahal and Paulette Blue were exceptional caregivers for my mother as she succumbed to ALS. Margaret and Paulette worked well together and were completely focused on Mom's needs, despite the fact that she was not always easy.
As testimony to the quality of their care, Mom did not suffer from even one bed sore or physical ailment beyond ALS symptoms, even though she was bedridden from the day they arrived.
