The ladies behind the counter were very pleasant and helpful. I took my kids here and they had a bit of a hard time deciding as everything looks delicious. Luckily they weren't too busy and the kiddos all loved the baked goods! We will definitely be stopping by when we are back in town.

Alexa, the young girl who waited on us way very helpful and nice. The older woman must have had a bad day because she overheard us asking Alexa if they had sourdough...
"We don't MAKE sourdough!" 😳
Ok then.
Great fresh products, clean store, easy access from the road, and we will be back!

Growing up I loved this place. Customer service and freshness has gone down hill! I get it if you’re about to close in 5 mins but 45 mins before closing? I don’t understand why someone would be so rude. We asked for a variety of donuts and she was just short with us and said they’re all wrapped up what do you want? Ok I don’t know what’s available. Then after she gave us a free set of old pastries wrapped up. Not how I remember this place growing up! Do better!

Stopped in for the first time to see what they had. Biggest complaint would be the lack of pricing of any kind on the pastry cabinets, as well as any labels. Im still not sure what one of the items I purchased was, it just looked good.
One whole cabinet was large sugar cookies that were cut to shape and iced to look like footballs, butterflies, and other things. When I asked what it was, I was told everything in the cabinet was a sugar cookie, just decorated differently.
I purchased a few items, knowing only that one was a sugar cookie, one appeared to be a lemon bar, and that when I said 1 lemon

Such a neighborhood gem! Not only are the staff and pastries / donuts incredible, you can't beat the prices and supporting local!

I called earlier in the day looking for a small , festive mixed box of goodies to take to a party. The staff was super friendly and patient giving me ideas and running through the selections of the day. My bix was ready for pick up and I enjoyed driving into my small town of Castroville which gave me a neighborhood feel.

The pastries were fresh and very reasonably priced. I've also purchased small cakes from here and you just can't beat the price

This.... Is a destination bakery! Haby's is a Castroville "must stop!" They have everything under the sun. Great donuts, delicate cookies, macaroons, strudel, lemon squares, bread, and much more. The large amount of employees (very friendly) tells you how busy this place is. Expect a fast moving line, while you browse your choices. The cookies, chocolate chip pecan, and oatmeal pecan, were extraordinary, the best we've had! We also picked up frosted cookies, which were great, very festive. Lemon squares were reminiscent of the ones I had as a child, my fave! Everything

Maybe it was early, but they didn't have a lot to choose from. We have been waiting to stop by since we first saw the bakery on our way to Leakey. Not sure we'd stop again.

This place is absolutely delicious! And you can tell it's going to be good when the line is super long! Good thing it goes pretty quickly, and while you're waiting you can check out the delicious breads along the wall or look into the glass cases at what you want.
There is an apple fritter type thing and I swear y'all, it's the best we've ever had. The donuts were delicious, not too light so you weren't eating 4 in one sitting. Everything is fresh, and delicious!

I had the task of ordering a cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Given with Covid I could have ordered from HEB and had it included with my curbside pickup. However , due to a bad experience with HEB I decided to try Haby's instead which is a short drive from me. Rather than go inside to order, I called my order in. I had no plan, and no idea what I wanted it to look like. It was not a problem for the young lady who took my order. She was patient and very friendly. It was with her help that I settled on a funfetti cake with strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting. I didn't

Now I understand why Texans from all over visit Castroville just to check out Haby's Alsatian Bakery.

Haby's bakery offers delicious, authentic and cheap goodies that will satisfy your sweet tooth, inner fat-kid and wallet. They have different types of baked goods, from donuts to brownies to pies and more!

Also, what I truly appreciate about Haby's is the customer service; the employees are very friendly and were extremely patient with me when trying to decide what to get (I got em all since I couldn't make up my mind... they even gave me a couple of samples).

Cutest cookie alert! I barely even skimmed the rest of the bakery goods they had because I was so obsessed with how cute their cookies were. They were soft, chewy, melt in your mouth sugar cookies. I'm personally a person who hates icing because it tends to taste like chemicals to me but their icing was buttery & just a bunch of yummy goodness.
The honey bun was the only thing that was still fully stocked, apparently it's not a best seller but I don't understand why not. If you like honey buns from the gas station you'll love these. It's soft with a very thin crispy

My mom, aunt and I were coming in on the way to Hondo, Texas my mother's home town. Just a quick drive out to visit my families grave. On the way there my mom said let's stop by this bakery I've been going to since a child.

The baked goods were pretty decent, but the moment we stepped into the store their customer service was lukewarm at best. My mom and my aunt and I waited to be served, no greeting even though I did say hello when I walked into the store, just to be friendly. Didn't receive an answer back. We then proceeded to buy an item, to which my mother said she was

Well visiting some friends in Cotulla we were offered some fresh chocolate covered strawberries. They were amazing. I asked where they got them from and I was told that hobbies what is the place to go to. They told me about the location they have in Castroville so, the wife and I took a trip out to Castroville to pick up some of their famous dingdong's. Boy were they right!!! These were some of the best baked goods I have ever had. I wish I would've taken a picture, But I think I eat them too quickly. Next time I go I promise I'm going to upload a picture of these delightful treats

My husband and daughter went in early yesterday morning. My daughter was so excited to go in and pick some donuts out for me.

However, she was met by a mean old lady who treated her like she was a pest instead of a paying customer. My daughter is 9 years old, well behaved and just wanted to pick something out to be sweet to her mother. It is unfortunate that people like her are out there and it's unfortunate that my daughter had to deal with that at such a young age. Not only that, she was rude and ugly to one of the workers that came out and asked her a question. I don't know who she

My favorite place for cookies and pastries. It's probably a good thing that it is not located very close to my house. Located in Castroville, TX, Haby's is a wonderful bakery with European flair. It is a staple of Texas Hill Country that you will find along the highway traveling from San Antonio to Uvalde and beyond.

My favorite thing is their sugar cookies that often have a season theme. They do an outstanding job of creating Fiesta theme cookies so hit them up in the spring!
