Community Music School of Springfield, founded in 1983, is a non-profit community arts school in Western Massachusetts. Our mission is to provide an equitable and inclusive center of excellence in music education that empowers individuals, inspires creative passion, and promotes well-being in our greater community.

We serve more than 2,000 students annually at our 127 State Street location and in our community partnership programs. Community Music School of Springfield is a proud member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education.
Services
Sonido Musica offers weekly music instruction by CMSS faculty during school for students in Springfield and Holyoke Public Schools, leading to improved educational outcomes. CMSS offers Music Therapy for children and adults with developmental delays, special education students, and individuals with autism.
CMSS is offering in-person programming, and remote lessons are still available if desired. Health and safety protocols remain in place to protect all members of our community. Community Music School of Springfield offers private and semi-private music lessons for children, teens and adults across a wide range of instruments and genres.
Prelude Preschool of the Arts offers flexible, arts-centered preschool programming for children ages 2.9 - 5 years. Social connection, love of learning, and fostering creativity are hallmarks of Prelude Preschool, and we'd love to have you join in the fun! At Prelude Preschool of the Arts, our primary goal is that your child is given every opportunity to thrive creatively, socially, and academically during the upcoming school year.
The Adaptive Music Program (AMP) connects music and special education to improve students' lives, targeting social/emotional, academic, and artistic development. Over 20% of the student population in Springfield is considered Special Needs, and this number is increasing.

Music is a proven and effective tool to unlocking learning potential in differently-abled students, yet the majority of this population does not have access to musical instruction that is adapted to their needs.Music instruction for diverse learners in public schools and education centers throughout the Pioneer Valley.
The Bridge Leaders program is designed for CMSS students age 17-25 to collaborate and contribute to the CMSS community. The program supports our community's BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) young creatives as they transition to adulthood and the support systems from their high school years become more difficult to access.
