Services
Since 2003, Magnolia's Deli & Cafe has been bringing high quality food in a relaxed atmosphere to the popular Park Avenue area in Rochester, NY. The demand for good fresh meals in the area has grown. So we decided to expand the cafe part of our business and fade out the deli to give our customers the quality service they deserve.
Sandwiches, wraps & paninis come with kettle chips & a pickle spear. Substitute pasta salad, potato salad or coleslaw for $1.50, or macaroni & cheese for $2.00, instead of chips. Substitutions or additions to our specialty sandwiches or wraps will incur additional charges. Pizzas are served Monday thruough Friday starting at 3:30pm and Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:00am.
Our wine flights come with cheese, fresh fruit & a warm baguette; choice of any three wines; each is a 3 oz. The combination of the rich yet zingy Martinborough fruit & more refined Hakes Bay fruit leads to a wine that has amazing drinkability with the richness of stone fruit, highlights of peach & lime, & underlying minerality.
Part of the atmosphere of Magnolia's is being located in the heart of the Park Avenue area where people love to walk around. That being said, if you are driving to Magnolia's, we do not have a reserved lot for parking. Parking is available on the street or in the area, so time your visit appropriately.

There are a few things I look for when I dine out anywhere: food quality, selection, service, cleanliness. I've been to Magnolia's several times over the past year or two and I've had a consistently great experience in all of these categories each time.
You really can't go wrong on the salads and I've yet to have a wrap or a sandwich that didn't exceed my expectations. The dessert selection changes regularly, so if you see something you like, consider getting 2! If I could offer one critique it would be that the soups could use a smidgen more seasoning.

Used to love this place. Portions are decent but quality has become inconsistent.
Tomato artichoke soup was a favorite. Now the soup contains non edible parts of artichokes and little seasoning.
Sandwiches could be improved. Some ingredients can be missing and just pushed or mashed together. Not visually appealing.
I understand the scarcity of help and ingredients may be hard to get.
Maybe let customers know and let them choose another option.

This has been a long time favorite of mine for their famous tomato artichoke soup. I was there with friends/relatives the day President Obama showed up, and asked us what we recommend. Naturally the soup with a croissant sandwich. The "Obama" is now a featured item on the menu. My daughter was here visiting from LA, and her only food request was Magnolia's. The staff is also great and engaging!

We tried Magnolia's Deli & Cafe last night for the first time on my dad's suggestion/interest in their pizza.
To call it a treat is an understatement. From the first phone call asking what time is best time to order for a 6:50 pm pick up and walking out of the rain into the welcoming warm and cozy atmosphere that is Magnolia's Deli, to arriving to be greeted and remembered (despite the crowd...) by Alisa (sp?) the manager (I believe...).
Dad LOVED his pizza and the ability to order any pizza without cheese. We (the rest of the family...) are happy for the gluten free pizza crust option.
Thank

This is a very popular restaurant in this area of Rochester as Obama ate here a number of years ago. Seating indoors and on the sidewalk are both available. Our party ate outdoors which was not sideways great since cars would pull up and people would get out almost on top of us. Very extensive menu with a good selection of sandwiches, soups and entrees. Service was a little slow first to get seated, then to place our orders. Did enjoy the sandwiches and the soup. Otherwise a somewhat indifferent experience.

This was my first time here and we decided to sit outdoors on such a beautiful day. The staff was very friendly and service was quick and on point. I had the Texas Ranger and it was an excellent sandwich which tasted very delicious. I'm giving four stars only because I think fries would have been a better option then potato chips. I will return to try more items on the menu. I must add that my girlfriend had the soup which I also tired and it too was delicious!!

It's a nice locale, but you've got 3 hipsters hanging around in front doing a whole lotta-nuthin' while it took 20 minutes for a rather paltry chicken pesto sandwich on focaccia bread w some hard-semi ripe cantelope as a side
For your dining pleasure...this ran about 16 dollars (....a glaring price-product mismatch). I get there is an eatery attached to this place...but you need to utilize your staff better. People who do take out during the weekday (um who work...) are in a rush..and the place wasn't full by any stretch. Honestly, to make a sandwich like this isn't rocket

This a great lunch spot, set on the site of an old grocery store at Park Ave and Oxford (park on the side streets). I live in the neighborhood and eat there once a week. I very much like the tomato-artichoke soup and a grilled cheese. That's what President Obama had back in the day (and for that alone the place deserves 5 stars). I also like the Vick Park B, named for a great local street and former 18th Century Sleigh track. it's a Turkey Ruben, which is always hot and never greasy. Good desserts and coffee too. sometimes it gets crowded with people from the suburbs looking fir

I can't believe I never tried Magnolia's until I left Rochester! This cafe with its outdoor patio is a super cute place to stop by for lunch. We ordered the Obama special and the honey lime shrimp salad. And yes! The Obama special was named after the former president when he dined in during a visit to Buffalo. The special comes with half a grilled cheddar cheese sandwich on sourdough bread and a cup of tomato, artichoke, cheese soup. The sourdough bread is fragrant and crunchy while the cheese is deliciously melted in between. The tomato soup offered a nice, acidic balance to the heaviness

How have I not reviewed Magnolia's until now?! I've been hitting up this lunch staple since college and have loved my experiences here. The staff is wonderful and attentive, and the food might be great...but I order the exact same thing every single time, so I can only vouch for that.
My order is the quiche with tomato artichoke soup. EVERY time! It comes with cute little fruit on the side and is so delicious. The quiche is decadent, and honestly the soup is pretty indulgent as well. If you're hitting up Magnolia's and not getting this soup (winter, summer, fall, spring WHENEVER

I've only been living in Rochester since 2011 - in varying spots - but was always within a stone's throw from Magnolia's Deli & Cafe, so it's a safe bet that I go there often. It's definitely one of the most visited sit-and-dine places for me. Bearing this in mind, I was, once more, finding a spot in there for a low-key lunch.
Normally, I grab a Mr. President (their signature tomato-artichoke soup and grilled cheese sandwich) as my go-to. I like familiarity (see; I'm stubborn about new things). But this time I decided to branch out and venture into the unknown

If I'm scoring them for their tomato soup it's a perfect 5! But I decided to branch out and try something different - and wish I hadn't ... went with a group of friends ... sat outside, service was friendly but SLOW .. decided to try their lettuce wraps - dried out pile of plain julienned carrots, cup of straight up soy sauce! Cup of thickish sweet/sour dressing , diced cakes, pile of lettuce leaves and a moderate portion of chicken completed the dish - taste was a bit salty.. they should really consider jazzing your the side veggies.
Bottom line - go for the soup!

The menu and location is great! I love the variety of salads, since usually there are only a few on a menu.
I took my mom here and we had a pretty poor service experience from Sam... it was like she didn't want our business?
I had to stop her after passing us several times and ask if we could place our order. She took the order but never checked in on us again.
I had to flag her down and ask for water. She went inside and got a big jug of water, and another table's bill. She dropped off their bill and then walked right by us with the water, but never poured us some. We didn&apos

Overall I had a pretty good experience at Magnolia's! The menu was very plentiful which allowed for a lot of options for my picky group it was mostly a soup, salad, and sandwich menu which made it a lighter option for dining. The service was a little slow at times and the waiter didn't check up on us super regularly but I'll give that to the restaurant being a little busy. One thing that I did like was that each sandwich was customizable without having to use the build your own option. For example I don't really like spicy but the sandwich I got had hot sauce on it so they simply

My partner took me on a quick date here and it was pretty good... An ideal place for salads, soups, pizza, dessert, and sandwiches. The salads looked really good here especially the shrimp & Mandarin oranges. We ordered a pizza with fresh basil and cheese and an egg croissant with creamy tomato soup with artichokes & cheese. The eggs were light and very airy/fluffy & the soup was delicious. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco for $25 & the strawberry cake was excellent & it came with homemade whipped cream. I'll come back and try the salads next time or a panini.
