Dr. Shawn Tsuda, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon and who practices in Las Vegas, NV. He is fellowship trained in laparoscopic weight loss surgery, and certified in da Vinci Xi robotic surgery and the Linx procedure for GERD, for which he is also a trainer. He currently applies his skills and experience to offer state-of-the-art surgery for the treatment of morbid obesity, reflux, hernias, and other gastrointestinal diseases.
Heidi Ryan, MD, FACS is a board certified general and bariatric surgeon serving patients in the Las Vegas, NV area. Having done the majority of her medical education at the Indiana University School of Medicine and University of Nevada School of Medicine, she has also extensively trained in daVinci robotic surgery technology, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and minimally-invasive trauma surgery.
Bariatric or weight loss surgery is a subspecialty of general surgery that deals with the management of obesity-related diseases such as type II diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure/hypertension, acid reflux and sleep apnea, amongst other conditions. The name "weight loss surgery, " however, is somewhat misleading, as the primary goal of surgery is not to reduce weight; weight loss is simply a very desired side effect.
