Floaters may appear in your vision as a variety of different shapes. Often they are noticed when looking at plain background, like looking into the sky or at a wall. The vitreous gel develops clumps or strands which make shadows on the retina, then you spot the floaters in your vision. Flashes appear as flashing lights or lightning streaks.
The vitreous is the clear, gel-like substance that makes up the center of the eye. The vitreous makes up approximately 2/3 of the eye's volume and provides the form and shape prior to birth. Eye problems affecting the back of the eye may require a vitrectomy, or removal of the vitreous. The vitreous is replaced as the eye secretes aqueous and nutritive fluids following surgery.
Glaucoma is a common eye disease that normally affects older patients. The optic nerve becomes damaged and results in vision loss. Glaucoma can be classified into two different forms: open angle glaucoma and angle closure glaucoma. Open angle glaucoma is the more common form and is often undetected until the later stages of the disease.

Dr Rivera and his staff went out of there way to make my experience as pleasant as possible. He was very professional and spent all the time I needed to answer all of my questions. My appointment was scheduled for 3PM on a Friday afternoon. Unfortunately I was going to be 45 minutes late. I called to reschedule but he told me that he would wait for me.

I called Dr. Rivera's office for my yearly follow-up appointment and was given one the following day at 11:00 am. I thought I was indeed fortunate to get an appt so quickly. I arrived and signed in. After verifying my information, I sat down, and 30 minutes later, I was still sitting and waiting. I went back to the desk to ask for another apt because to sit for 30 minutes without being called was unacceptable. I asked for a date where I would be the first appt. It happened to be about a month away, but I took it. A suggestion, establish a triage procedure so those that have to have their eyes dilated
