Rise was the best thing to ever happen to our son. It taught him focus, self restraint, confidence and compassion. We watched our son excell in many aspects of his young adulthood. His grades started to sky rocket with his focus and it continues to this day. He is very driven and we give a lot of that credit to his years of attending Rise.
The instructors are incredible and they all worked to bring the best out of our Son. Our school has changed it's name a few times, but we are still teaching martial arts in Pflugerville. In fact some of our former students are now bringing their kids in to take martial arts classes from us! SInce 1999 the Rise Martial Arts Academy has been family owned and operated. We have worked hard incorporating our strong family values in our business operations and how our classes are taught.
The day that your child receives their black belt is one of the proudest moments you will feel! Watch their journey from basic coordination to physical skill that produces the confidence that will follow them a lifetime! You will wonder how they have grown so much in their ability to focus, control their body and Rise to their best.
As parents we want to do all we can to prepare our kids for success in life. But the world our kids will be facing is changing fast. Jobs in high demand today will be obsolete in a few years as artificial intelligence takes over many of these tasks. So how can we best prepare our kids to succeed? At Rise Martial Arts we believe that the best way to prepare them for success must include the development of lifeskills that will not become obsolete.
Many of our adult students say they have always wanted to learn martial arts but think their moment has passed. But students of all ages can learn martial arts at a level suited to them! We believe martial arts is for everyone! Our students benefit from the physical conditioning, stress relief, and confidence that comes with martial arts training.
I love the after school program! My child gets TaeKwonDo instruction every day plus a lot of personal attention and coaching in a safe environment. We LOVE RIse Martial Arts! We started our daughter with them in their "honor guard" after school program in elementary school." And all while learning martial arts!

We love them so much. Tammy and Steve Barkley are absolutely wonderful with the kinder/1st grade class. Our family tried Martial Arts because it was highly recommended for kiddos with ADHD/balance issues. This business was specifically recommended to be my another ADHD mama, and I'm so thankful. I've been amazed at how much it has helped my son in just the past 4 1/2 months. His physical therapists have been blown away by the sudden progress. I'm really thankful that we found this martial arts school. My daughter has already shown an increase in her self-esteem since beginning classes, and that was a skill I really felt she needed support with. Her confidence has increased, and this will help open the path to her seeing her own beauty and strength more often. The instructor for her class takes care to support her (and her many questions and comments lol).

Our daughter loves coming to Rise. She was timid and really needed a boost of confidence. Within two weeks of starting at Rise, there was a visible difference in her demeanor and self-esteem. As a parent, you can't put a price on that. Also, the classes are run efficiently, the staff to student ratio is always high, there is very little down time, and the instructors seem to really enjoy teaching. Five stars!

Steve, family and all the instructors are amazing! Very friendly family environment, clean waiting area and restrooms! My 4 year old son started a month ago and absolutely loves it! Another benefit is being located behind my work and close to our house. Once my 2 year old daughter is of age she will be here for training as well. Would highly recommend Rise Martial Arts to anyone! Thank you to Steve and instructors for all yall do!

We enrolled our son over the summer. He went from being so shy that he would hide behind me if an adult talked to him (he's 6!) to being confident enough to place his own orders at restaurants. It really helped him find his voice and confidence.
The instructor for his age group is fantastic, and I believe he is one of the sons of the owners (who have also been fantastic!). I would recommend this place to anyone interested in martial arts.

My son has been in the after school program for a while now...
Recently he jumped over a belt and is now a 2nd degree red belt... one level away from a black belt!
Many years ago when we joined rise I would have never guessed how he would take to the program. I have to give credit to the school, the instructors, and their core teachings!
They know how to teach... serious and solid but also know when to have fun and keep it light. I've watched my son grow up a lot in these classes... I'm very proud of the young man he is becoming and again I have to say... thank you Rise!

Our son looks forward to going to class everyday and has learned so much in less than a year! My husband and I have seen such a tremendous change in the way he carries himself. He was extremely shy before he started going to Rise Martial Arts and now he has so much confidence! He walks with his head held high and actually talks to everyone. All the instructors are great and I can tell they love their job. There is no doubt that they truly care about the kids they are teaching. I highly recommend Rise Martial Arts to everyone!!!

Our first experience with Tiger Rock was for my son's 4th birthday party. It was such a great experience that we decided to enroll our son. My neighbors even enrolled their son after my son's party! The instructors here are great. The Barkley's are very patient with the kids. They teach them lessons that are age appropriate and surely will help them in the classroom as we prepare for kindergarten this year. My son loves it and so do we.

My son John loves this place . This is His first martial arts studio ever. The owners are very friendly and helpful . Staff is kind and patient with the children . They have helped build Johns confidence. The flexible times they have makes it easy to attend . John can't wait to go again (tomorrow ) :)

We joined Tiger-Rock in Pflugerville about 3 years ago. We wanted our kids to learn self-defense and to develop healthy habits regarding their physical fitness. Our kids have learned so much more than we dreamed! They are physically fit, they know how to protect themselves should they ever need to, and they are more confident in themselves in everything that they do. The instructors also do an amazing job of keeping the classes fun and interesting, for all age levels! My kids love the Hyper Pro classes where they learn unique moves like the special, athletic spins and tricks used in the movies

This school has been amazing for my son. Not only are the owners and instructors professional and friendly, but they are constantly going above and beyond for their students. Each student receives attention and praise and learns valuable lessons about discipline, honor and integrity. My son came home explaining how to apply TKD principles in his home and school life after just a few classes. He can't wait to go. Calls and emails with questions have been answered promptly and all fees are explained in detail up front. So happy we found the Barkley's and their awesome TKD facility

After checking out several after school programs, we chose the Tiger-Rock Academy in Pflugerville & we couldn't be more pleased with that decision. This is such a great program . I've heard that martial arts in general help to teach kids and instill the values of respect, discipline & self control so we decided to visit their school. At the time our 5 year old was getting into trouble daily at school & was having a really difficult time with self-control. I had some concerns about enrolling him in martial arts & was worried he might use what he learned at Taekwondo

My three children ages 4, 7, and 9 have been attending classes at Tiger-Rock for about two years now and we all LOVE it! Tiger-Rock in Pflugerville has been wonderful for our family for many reasons! Some of those reasons are the exercise the kids get, the motor skills learned, knowledge on how to get out of a situation if there is a bully or stranger, and the fact that it is just fun! We love this Tae Kwon Do and wouldn't go any where else. The instructors go above and beyond to make sure my kids succeed in their classes! I highly recommend this Tae Kwon Do!

Our oldest son is finishing his first month at Tiger Rock. He has been able to progress at his own pace because you are allowed to attend as many classes as you want for one monthly price. We love that! He goes 3-4 times per week and he is already testing for his first belt! The frequent tests for stripes (in between belt tests) also allow him to recognize his achievements step by step and that has been a great motivator for him. One month in and we have nothing but praise for the program and the owners.

My son has been enrolled at Tiger Rock Martial Arts for about 7 months now. Within the first couple of months I was amazed at the drastic improvement in his coordination skills and the boost in his confidence level. The instructors are very hands on and I am very impressed that regardless of the size of the class they make a point to guide each student during the classtime. My son has really enjoyed his time at Tiger Rock and has set high goals for himself in the martial arts world.
