Founded by Frank E. Grove in 1887, the "undertaking parlor" was established as an adjunct to his cabinet making and furniture business at 40 East Main Street. In the year 1916, he erected the building at 13 South Church Street (now the Welfare Association Building) for the "funeral parlor" and several years later moved the business to the family home at 27 South Church Street, part of which was built by his father, William F. Grove in the 1850's.
Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Inc. and Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home offer one of only three on site crematoriums in Franklin County. The cremation chamber was added to the facilities and placed on site at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, in 1994.
This offers our families peace of mind that the cremation process is completed with out the need to transport their loved ones to another facility and their loved one is always in the care of our professional employees.Cremation is the act of reducing a corpse by burning, generally in a crematorium furnace or crematory fire.

Our dedicated staff members are here to provide support, compassion, and information to help you through your journey of grief and the celebration of your loved one's life. Jeremy A. Bowersox, owner and president of Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Inc. and Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, is a 1997 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
A funeral represents a purposeful opportunity to reflect on the meaning of a life that has been lived and to determine the impact of that meaning for the family and friends. There is no single proper funeral service. It is a time for human sharing in its deepest sense. You and the ones you love are at the very center of the process, and the choices you make will determine its significance for you.
The number of people choosing cremation has increased significantly in the past few years, yet cremation carries a long tradition and remains largely unchanged. Cremation simply expedites the process of reducing a body to bone fragments through application of intense heat. What is done before or after the cremation is up to the survivors, or up to you.

My Father In Law passed away 6/23/2008 and my Mother passed 2/8/2009 and Bowersox's took care of the services for both. Very compassionate. Professional. And helpful. It's hard to think things through clearly, but they understand that and make the process as painless as they can! Thanks Jim (and Jeremy) for being so awesome :-)
