Roland and Beth Speaks originally founded Speaks funeral home in 1936. Since that time, three generations of family owners have been proud to serve the community, while making sure that the main focus of our staff will always be to honor the needs of the families we serve.

A funeral service, whether traditional or more modern (memorial service or celebration-of-life), has two functions: to acknowledge the death and lifetime achievements of an individual and to bring grieving family members and friends together in support of one another during this difficult time. First is the purchase price of the "right to use" the burial plot (unlike a real estate purchase, where you buy the land and all the structures on it; here you are only purchasing what is called the "interment rights" to the land). In addition, there are fees for the "opening" and "closing" of the gravesite; and any fees required to obtain the necessary permits and to maintain cemetery files and records.

Dealing with the details after the death of a loved one is a stressful and emotional time. I would like to thank Carson-Speaks for helping us through the process. The staff was so loving and kind. My father’s passing took me by surprise even though he had been quite ill. I don’t live in the same state where my father passed away, and Speaks was so very helpful with details I was not prepared to address. My father passed away in a different state than where he was buried, and Speaks handled all of the legal details and communication with getting the death certificate, and countless other things. They were professional, sympathetic and courteous even though my family was not united and complicated matters at every turn. I so appreciate their assistance, even in the they were not really
