I am so glad you are here. Perhaps a small glimmer that lets you know you are not alone, that someone cares. Hope that there is someone who will help you face your pain and help you carry your burdens, and when you are ready. Hope that there is someone who is trained to know how to help you release and transform your burdens so you don't have to carry them anymore.
All of us carry burdens and pain. Reaching out can be hard because we live in a culture that values independence and 'pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps.' We get messages to 'tough it out' and just 'get over it.' The 'it' being whatever is bothering us. But, we are social beings. We need each other.

Services
I am a California Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) practicing in Sonoma County for the past 20 years. Currently, I specialize in using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help adults move through traumatic experiences, either from childhood or current time, toward integration and healing.
I use a combination of therapeutic modalities to help serve you. There is no one size fits all when it comes to psychotherapy. Most of my clients come to me for individual psychotherapy, but I also work from a systems model using my understanding of family dynamics and relationship attachments. I am happy to include family members and/or partners during your work with me, when appropriate.
I have extensive experience working with PTSD/dissociation and other trauma related conditions, as well as depression, anxiety, stress, grief/loss, relationship issues and life transitions. I have training in ego-state therapy, hypnosis, dissociative processes, complex PTSD, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Hakomi Psychotherapy.
I am a contributing author of two Chapters for the book, Attachment-Focused EMDR: Healing Relational Trauma, Laurel Parnell, New York: WW Norton & Company, 2013. My Chapters are entitled, "Case Example: Preparing a Client with Severe Attachment Trauma for EMDR" (pages 160-173) and "Using AF-EMDR as an Adjunctive Therapist to Treat Lifelong Depression, Developmental Neglect, and Attachment Wounding."
Our connection starts with the first telephone call. I am interested in hearing what is happening in your life that leads you to consider counseling. I will ask you some questions to help me understand the overall situation. You are also free to ask me any questions that might help you determine if you would like to schedule an appointment.
