The total knee replacement went as expected, and the recovery has been faster than expected. Great guy and even a better orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Mullen answered all of my questions and explained the procedure and recovery process very well. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic services.

Dr. Daniel Mullen was fabulous when he examined my shoulder. He ordered an MRI and took his time in explaining the results to me in a follow up. We developed a treatment plan and a Plan B. He is a very bright, kind, patient, articulate man. I had a great experience with Dr. Daniel Mullen. Very thorough in his explanation of what was going on, got right to the source of the problem and gave me my treatment options.
Services
Routine questions that can wait until the office is open should be addressed when the office is open. We do provide 24-hour coverage for orthopedic emergencies. Please use that coverage only for emergencies. In the case of emergency, and when the office is closed, our answering service will take your name and number.
The decision to undergo an elective orthopedic surgery such as total knee replacement is different from the decision for most other types of surgery. With problems like heart disease or cancer, patients may not really have other viable options, and the timing of surgery is decided by their disease.
Dr. Mullen's provides digital Computerized Radiography (CR) for the benefit of our patients. CR requires less time in the x-ray rooms and less repeated x-rays. The x-ray images are stored electronically and can be viewed, measured, and magnified by your doctor wherever and whenever the doctor needs them.
A fast, simple examination, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a safe, totally painless way for your physician to look into your body without radiation or x-rays. The pictures created during the exam provide sophisticated soft tissue images that can improve the diagnosis. Not always, but sometimes, Dr. Mullen needs to have a patient obtain an MRI of a body part before a definitive diagnosis or surgical plan can be discussed.
No one likes joint injections, least of all in an already painful joint. But it is important to realize that injections can be very effective treatments for arthritis. Whether you have rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis (OA), gout, or bursitis, injections can reduce swelling and pain and improve joint mobility.

You won't believe this! I thought my appointment was for 2:45 today - Friday. I obviously wrote down the wrong time since they aren't open on Friday afternoon. I didn't know this when I went in and started to write my name on the sign in sheet. Dr Mullen came up and asked me if he could help me. I said I was there for my appointment and he kinda grinned and said they were closed. I was mortified and very embarrassed, even though I had driven 40 minutes to get to the office. (Dr Mullen is the kind of doctor worth driving 40 minutes for.)
He smiled and said to come on in anyway. I was there for

Dr. Mullen was upfront with all of the surgical information for my total hip replacement. I was having a lot of hip, knee and leg pain. Surgery went very well and I have not had any hip, knee or leg pain since. Recovery was amazing and I was completely released in 6 weeks. I highly recommend Dr. Mullen!!

If it were possible to leave zero stars, that would be my preference. The office manager Teresa seems terribly put out by her job. I booked a surgery 6 weeks in advance. 2.5 weeks before my procedure, they called to cancel my procedure because I had a change in insurance. Their policy was that they needed 14 days notice of the change prior to their pre-op appointment, which I called 14 days in advance. Today they indicate they need more time, even though they did not respond for several days to my request nor attempt to contact my new insurance, and unilaterally cancelled my surgery. Please do

Had my hip replacement in August and am now pain free! Thank you Dr Mullen.I also want to thank the staff for being so efficient. I didn't stay in the hospital because of covid. They had everything arranged the next day. I had a nurse, social worker, and physical therapist to come to my house. I did not have to do anything but heal! . Pre surgery they gave me the best info.ever I knew exactly what I needed to do. Everyone was always so kind & professional at the same time.Im forever grateful for your taking care of me so well. My surgery was a success!

I went to see Dr. Mullen for my shoulder pain. During my first appointment I got x-rays taken in his office and he thoroughly examined my shoulder and asked lots of questions about the pain I was feeling and my range of motion. With the cause not being obvious he ordered an MRI and my next appointment to go over my results was with his PA Kelly. She went over all my options and was caring and very knowledgeable
After trying some alternative treatment options that did relieve the pain for a few months at a time. He discussed all my other options, risks and possible outcomes. I decided to go with

Aug 24 2020 my total knee replacement was done by Dr. Mullen at Banner Baywood hospital. Six months before I went to see Dr. Mullen because my knee pain was no longer tolerable, I went to him because my high school son 12 years earlier got help with his pitching elbow. Now I was in his office about my knee. Dr. Mullen showed me the x-rays and said therapy would be useless, the knee needed replaced. However, I weighed too much. My BMI disqualified me. He said lose the weight and he can do the surgery. I really appreciated his direct and serious tone to his appraisal. I needed to hear it that way

Dr Daniel Mullen replaced both of my hips 7 weeks apart. Opted for outpatient since I’m relatively young and in good shape. I was in and out in 4 hours both times. (Recommend using a wheelchair instead of a walker to get in the house.) Highly recommend using a physical therapist for rehab. I’m a new woman. Just had my 6-week post op appointment for the 2nd hip and got released to get on the tennis courts again. I highly recommend Dr Mullen!

I first went to see Dr. Mullen three years ago for a torn rotator cuff in left shoulder. He repaired it. All went well. Zero complaints. Recently returned due to issues with right shoulder. Dr. Mullen has always explained everything thorougly, makes sure I understand what I'm looking at, has never urged me to rush into surgery, gives me options, and leaves the decision up to me.
And, his staff is fantastic! When my primary doctor's office dropped the ball on sending the proper paperwork for my latest appointment, at the last minute Dr. Mullen's office spent time tracking down the results for me

Dr. Mullen was very professional yet I felt like I was talking with a longtime friend.
The ACL surgery went great and I was getting around in no time. It was such a smooth procedure, I’m thinking about getting the other one done!
So grateful I found Dr. Mullen.

I was referred to Dr. Daniel Mullen regarding my left hip. I was barely able to walk and was in so much pain. Dr. Mullen reviewed my MRI and x-rays, said he would perform the replacement. I was scheduled for Sept 2018. Surgery went great, I participated in PT in-home & out. I am loving my new hip. I would definitely recommend Dr. Mullen. He was knowledgeable, informative, has a great bedside manner and I haven't felt this good in several years. Great job and kudos to Dr. Mullen and his staff.
