The Iowa Bicycle Coalition promotes safe and enjoyable bicycling in Iowa through education, events, better policy, and growing a community of supporters. Lobby different levels of governments to improve laws to protect cyclists and provide more funding for trails, bike lanes, paved shoulders and other cycling facilities.

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is an exciting organization working to promote Iowa cycling as safe and enjoyable recreation and transportation. The 501(c)(3) non-profit group was launched by bicycling advocates from across Iowa and will unite the voices of road riders, mountain bikers, recreation riders, commuters, and anyone else who prefers a bicycle for recreation and transportation.
In normal times, we have the Summit, Expo, and Route party under one roof. We've had to adapt this year and put them all into the virtual Iowa Bicycle Summit. The Iowa Bicycle Coalition's legislative district leader program connects bicyclists with legislators who represent them. District leaders actively seek meetings or attend forums with elected officials in their areas to talk about bicycling issues. We can count on district leaders to share important information, action alerts, and petitions with their bike club, team, or friends they ride with.
The Iowa Bicycle Coalition has been concerned with motorists safely passing bicyclists since our creation in 2004. Iowa bicyclists have ".all the rights and duties under this chapter applicable to the driver of a vehicle, except those provisions of this chapter which by their nature can have no application."
Bicycles welcome here is our new initiative to reach out to businesses across Iowa. The more businesses we have supporting our mission, the more power we have to achieve better bicycling conditions. If more businesses take the step toward becoming bicycle-friendly, the more encouragement and opportunities individuals have to dust off their bikes and ride whether it's commuting to work or for fun.
