Intimate relationships are challenging, especially with respect to sustaining intimacy over the long haul. Marital distress is the single most common reason people seek any type of therapy. It undermines family functioning and is strongly associated with depression, anxiety disorders and substance abuse.
In general, information shared in session is confidential and may not be revealed to anyone. However, there are some instances whereby I am legally required to disclose information from session. When the patient presents a danger of violence to others or is likely to harm him or herself unless protective measures are taken.
