Having worked in the schools for many years, I have had the opportunity to experience many educational settings and have had the unique challenge in working with children with many specialized handicapping conditions, as well as with children who have learning differences and disabilities, low incident disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other conditions which adversely affect learning and social behavior.

I obtained my predoctoral supervised experience at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California. I received training in individual, couple, and group counseling for inpatient and outpatients services. I worked in outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, at Concern Employee Assistance Program, and inpatient psychiatry.

The purpose of the neuropsychological assessment is to answer the questions that have been posed by individuals or their physicians, whether it is to diagnose possible learning disabilities and to recommend appropriate therapies, to diagnose ADHD in children or adults, cognitive decline in older patients, or to examine other possible impairments.
The neuropsychological assessment is multidimensional. In order to determine how to assist a client, I take a complete history, including gathering information from others who know the client well, and, when working with a child, sometimes observing the student in the classroom.

I consult with parents, families, physicians, schools, and individuals in order to help answer questions that have been raised about an individual's functioning with regard to school performance, learning, behavior, social skills, behavior, developmental disorders, need for services and treatment and/or appropriate accommodations for tests or for other needs in school or in the workplace.
An early assessment can lead to interventions that maximize a child's potential and improve his or her attitude toward school by identify the best methods for tutoring or the need for other services either at school or in the community.

Adult students sometimes need accommodations for college or graduate school exams as well as for board exams such as the California bar. A thorough assessment is required before one can be allowed accommodations that might be necessary in order for a student to demonstrate his or her knowledge.

Assessment results can help them understand themselves and assist in helping them choose the best profession that accentuates strengths while minimizing the impact of weaknesses.Assessments are conducted on older adults who might be having some difficulty with doing tasks that were easier for them to do when they were younger or who might be having problems with memory.
Here you will find articles that I have written on topics that might be of help to parents, students, and others. Articles will be added periodically, so please visit frequently. If you are interested in recommendations for excellent books or articles about ADHD, please contact me. They often appear as if their mind is elsewhere or as if they are not listening.

I recommend dr. Ruzicka highly. It was obvious she was very experienced and knowledgeable. She was friendly, empathic and professional to myself and to child. She explained the number of hours, and work she would conduct ahead of time. She gave short intreme updates, and answered questions. Gave excellent report with which she gave her recommendations. She responded to emails and questions whenever she could. My husband and I appreciated her very much.

I would highly recommend Dr. Ruzicka. She was recommended by our pediatrician and she is amazing. She is personable and friendly and worked very well with my 9 year old son. She is knowledgeable and after talking with my son and evaluating him, she was able to discuss the results with me and give me a lot of helpful insight about my son.
