This place is the best! I had been going to a beloved provider my whole life until circumstances required I find a new dental home. Coastal Dental Arts was everything I hoped for and more! The staff and providers are thorough and accommodating, they don't treat you like an ATM (quite the opposite, actually, comping costs when appropriate so that you have the best experience), and the office is sparkling clean! I came here yesterday for a wisdom removal & they were quick and Extremely friendly, I get that no place will have straight 5 stars reviews. Everyone has something to complain about, you cant please everyone. Only thing I cared about was pricing and how the energy was. And it was on point. If your unsure about pricing ASK! And estimate is an ESTIMATE! They aren't forcing you. You don't like something don't do it. Everyone messes up. Literally no one is perfect, surgeons, nurses veterinarian or vet tech and vet Assistants (like me) no one is perfect, but I definitely hope to get a good connection

I have been a client at Coastal Dental Arts for 5+ years and have always felt very welcomed by everyone there. I initially visited for Invisalign and continue to go there for my regular cleanings. I received many compliments on my smile and my teeth never felt cleaner and healthier. My dental hygienist, Donia has been cleaning my teeth for over a year and I appreciate the care she provides me with every visit. It may sound odd, but I look forward to my visits to Dr. Chotiner's office.

Donia the Dental Hygienist from Dental Coastal Arts went above and beyond to make sure my teeth were clean and leaving my gums happy. She was extremely professional and was very thorough in not only making sure my teeth/gums were clean but in explaining and educating me on everything that was going on. I have had my teeth cleaned by many Dental Hygienist over the years and Donia is by far the most thorough and particular about getting the job done to perfection. I will be recommending her and this office to all my co-workers.

Coastal Dental Arts has been one of the most amazing offices I have ever visited. The team is extremely nice- especially in the morning! Sara at the front desk is always a delight to see. She's always super sweet and makes sure you feel welcomed right away. Sarina was great and made sure that I felt comfortable with every step of the way. I met with Dr. Nice and he really is beyond nice- he is phenomenal!! He was personable and made it a great start to my day. My appointment to get my filling fixed was overall such an amazing experience- it was quick, fun, and felt well taken care of. Honestly

No idea how competent the doctors are, because the front office staff is so incompetent I never even got a chance to see them. They rescheduled my appointment, then re-re-scheduled the appointment (after realizing they shouldn't have re-scheduled it in the first place), then lied to me that they had told me about the change.

Beautiful office and nice people, however they constantly tried to upsell me. Tried to talk me into getting Invisalign for a "problem" that was years away from happening and still gave me the quote for it despite me telling them I'm not interested. Tried to talk me into other services not covered by my insurance while cleaning my teeth. Eventually talked me into buying prescription toothpaste for $40 which apparently I can get for $8 at pharmacies. They also tried to charge me more than my copays in a quote for fillings/crown. I called them out on it and they then adjusted the price, but come on

Hollywood Smiles ( but get a second opinThe doctor knows his stuff, and I have never had procedures gone wrong. They use the latest technology and always innovate. The hygienists I saw have been caring, knowledgeable and gentle. Smiley, pretty, new young things on staff at all times. Looks are everything at this place- and the cost to maintain such a state of the art facility, with downtown high rise rents, and plenty of Barbie staff will come out of your pocket. That view? You are paying for it. Be aware that this is an extremely expensive doctor, and they will always push the cosmetic angle.

First, if you need cosmetic dentistry, this is a great place to go. They replaced an eye tooth of mine, and it looks amazing. It wasn't cheap, but they did the work quickly and nobody can tell its fake. Your front teeth matter and they're worth the expense, if you want to cap your teeth and look like a celebrity, I recommend this place.
I also had my wisdom teeth removed here, years ago. Again, it went very well and I was super happy.

I recently moved back to San Diego and had to find a new dentist. Thankfully I learned about this place and I am so happy! Everyone here is super sweet, and my dentist David rules! My teeth feel great after my routine cleaning AND I finally took the first step towards getting Invisalign. Definitely give Coastal Dental Arts a call if you're looking for a dentist, they'll take excellent care of you!

This is the Used Car Salesman of Dental procedures. Everything is an up sell. Use him at your own risk, but I will recommend one thing. WHEN (not if) he says you need a crown, or more likely crowns, go to another dentist first for a second opinion.
After I had several crowns placed (suddenly after years of no problems at other dentists) I sent my roommate there. He told her to she required three crowns. She went to another dentist a week later, and he said she needed ONE cavity filled, but definitely no crowns.
In the time I was with them, I was told I ABSOLUTELY had to have: Invisalign

I'm so happy with my decision to come to Coastal Dental Arts. The office is clean and modern, and if you're into golf there's a putting green in the lobby. My hygienist is Haley - not only is she so kind and knowledgeable, but her thoroughness is the best I've ever had! Teeth so clean I'm like a toothpaste commercial actress. This is nothing against doctor but it's for the admin staff business practices. The doctor is skilled and polite but loves to up sale patients on aesthetic treatments I just get what is medical necessary

Had a similar experience to another Yelp reviewer with the up-selling of invisalign product. was recommended to help close a gap between a native tooth and a dental implant. was discouraged from getting it closed with filling- was told he would have to drill a good chunk out of a healthy tooth which i didn't like. spent thousands of dollars and didn't really get much of a result. I ended up moving and going back to my old dentist who straight up laughed in my face for being such a sucker. he simply roughed up the surface of the native tooth and added some composite and 30 min later problem

After going to another family dentist my whole life I took a couple years off from going to the dentist when I started living in San Diego. A chipped tooth motivated me to find a new dentist in San Diego who could help get my teeth back in good health.
