At first glance this place is bouncing with a senior crowd but upon eating there you learn that the service is not the selling point at all. The customer service (aka the manager) is truly unjust and not a personable woman. She is honestly not someone I would ever have representing my establishment as a restaurant owner. It's so sad to see a fun place going down the drain because of one woman's closed mindedness.

Looks like a hole in the wall next to the gas station. This gem has been here for 40 years. We were encouraged to try this place by a couple locals and it did not disappoint. The food was so good, wine list was extensive, and Bill Baker in the bar was so entertaining. Do not miss this place on your Palm Springs visit.

We went with some friends who made the reservation for 5:30 PM on a Friday night. Place was full, but very very loud, especially with the piano playing. Could not have a conversation and had to yell across the table to communicate anything. Food was good, but not more than good. Service was very good, lots of staff to help! Wine list was wrong, and I tried explaining to our waiter that when the label has "California" as the AVA, it's not an "Alexander Valley" cab as the menu advertised. Their wine list is very pedestrian and small, on the back of the food menu.

MY husband and I went here on our first date night in FOREVER, and boy did we make the right choice. From the phenomenal service, amazing music, and fabulous food, it was a night to remember. I had the fried chicken and is was soooooo good!! My husband had the short ribs, and those were fabulous as well! We even went home with some of their fresh baked bread!!! I highly, highly recommend this place!!

It's a very nice place and if I was 20 years older I would probably swoon. The food was fine but very traditional in that the salad was iceberg, the veggies were bias cut medley by which the freezer isle is inspired and pasta was abundant. I had the shrimp scampi. Sauce was no where to be found but the shrimp were big and juicy. My SO's veal picata was pretty good, but again lacking in any creativity or modern flair.

Do not be fooled, this place knows what they're doing.
Great service, great food and a wonderful time. I was part of a big group this past weekend for a wedding, and I was very happy with how friendly the staff was and how quaint it is inside! We all sat on the back patio (BEAUTIFUL setup!) and we had a spectacular weekend.

We are LA transplants and love the Pacific Dining Car and Taylor's. Cunard's is their LOVE CHILD! Order the calamari just to enjoy the bed of cole slaw! The calamari BTW is the BEST ever!
Ask for Melanie! She is AMAZING! She earns the title of HONORARY Sommelier! The Mer Soleil Silver UNOAKED Chardonnay is FABULOUS! We consider ourselves Chardonnay connoisseurs until MELANIE schooled us!
Ordered the prime rib and shrimp scampi pasta. It has yet to arrive. Let's just say it will be FABULOUS!
Old school bar, live music, great ambience! CUNARD'S SANDBAR IS AN ABSOLUTE

A proven winner for many years, but I never knew they had such a large outdoor seating area outback. Under a perfect desert moon on the last 80 degree evening of the season, I ordered my go to Steve's brown butter sole. An enormous piece that had fresh spinach and mashed potatoes underneath, it was as good as always.

Just moved to La Quinta and are exploring new restaurants and heard many people recommend the Sandbar so 4 of us gave it a try. I heard the bar / piano scene was great but we couldn't get a table in that room so we sat just outside in the dining area. From the moment we walked in the the hostess was friendly and sat us down on time. Our waitress approached us immediately and took our drink order. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu. All 4 dinners were large in portion size and extremely tasty. Our bill came in at just over $200 for the 4 of us which

Haven't been to the Sandbar for years, got together with our friends for Christmas dinner. Have to say very dissatisfied, service was ok, price point for what you get is high, food is mediocre, pasta dishes are $30 and it's not even homemade, had the clam chowder that was made by the chef and it was warm and I can make a better chowder!
So, food ok, priced too high, way to many other restaurants in the desert at that price point that are very good with food and service!!! Ambience is 80's and the bathrooms are disgusting! Host was always on the phone and took a phone call instead
