I'd sell my soul for Soul of China to open a location in Orange County!
I grabbed takeout for my mom and I while in Palm Springs. This foodie paradise has perfected all your favorite Chinese dishes, including my personal go-to, Sesame Chicken!
Since we couldn't stick with a single dish we decided to order a smorgasbord to share - Gilmore style (IYKYK.) This masterpiece included chicken fried rice, Sesame Chicken, Vegetable Chicken and veggie spring rolls. 5 stars across the board!
The Sesame Chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and topped with the perfect amount of sauce

I have withheld my opinion for years . That is only because approximately 20 years ago, when my husband and I started spending time in the desert, this was actually a good restaurant, serving decent Chinese food. And then, over the years, it changed. Some of the changes were not as drastic as others but none of them was positive.
However, in the last two years, the food that they serve is practically inedible. What they turn out indicates that there is absolutely no care or interest in providing a decent meal to their patrons or they think that their patrons do not know the difference between

My husband and I always look forward to enjoying a great dinner at Soul of China in La Quinta. I love the fresh traditional menu choices, the great soups, the fact that they don’t add additional MSG to the dishes and the cheery employees. I love the charming and intimate table settings and I hope they never feel the need to modernize and change such a cute restaurant. Places like this are hard to find and the food is fantastic! Thank you.

Last spring, at the beginning of the pandemic, we ordered take-out at Soul of China. I thought the food was a little better than average, but the restaurant looked like a place under repair.
Then tonight, a year and a half later, we ordered take-out, and the food once again was a little better than average, decent for take-out but not special. And the restaurant still looks under repairs.
I would not eat my dinner there.
Our Valley is sorely missing a really good Chinese restaurant. A friend recently told us that Sam Woo in Pasadena had closed its doors. Not a promising sign for us....

Was hoping to find decent Chinese food in La Quinta. Unfortunately this wasn't it. Both the fried rice and the uninspired Mushu pork tasted like they were fried in old oil. The pork spareribs were very good. Then again, they weren't fried. Probably won't return unless I want spareribs and STEAMED rice. Still looking for a decent Chinese restaurant in this area.

Great Chinese food! Thank you so much for the wonderful Chinese food. This is my favorite take--out restaurant. The food is always hot and delicious. The Wor Wonton soup is a "must" with every order, as is the house special rice. Be sure to ask for a menu because you will surely want to order again after you taste the delicious food.

I really love the food here.. it's really good it's fresh and I've been coming here for quite a long time. They've been very good with the covid restrictions and still being able to accommodate customers with curbside service and delivery they now offer in dining but limited. The owners and staff are super friendly and make the experience just that much better.

Stopped by there tonight to get some food for a last minute get together. The place had lost their air conditioning in the 115゚ heat. But I have to give the staff a lot of credit, the food was fantastic, the service was fantastic and their attitudes were great. Can't wait to come back to La Quinta and try this place again, good job.

I've ordered from Soul of China previously and the food was fantastic. However, this time it was absolutely horrendous. The fried rice was bland--absolutely no flavor; the lo mein was literally spaghetti noodles with soy sauce; the beef with broccoli had the chewiest beef I've ever experienced--I ended splitting it out because I couldn't chew it! And the egg flower soup was entirely comprised of salt and water. I will not be ordering from here again.

Yum! Pretty tasty Chinese food spot! We ordered chicken lo mein - added veggies, kung pao beef, orange chicken and veggie spring rolls. The spring rolls were crispy, though the veggies on the inside could have been less mushy. The orange chicken was good, does not have that strong orange peel taste. Mongolian beef was also good, just had more veggies than beef. Lo mein was tasty, though they kind of skimped out on the veggies, esp since I paid extra to add them in.
Btw, it was take out only when we visited, yesterday, 5/7/21.

Oh my god the worst food ever . Used to be good . Ordered Kung Pao - no chicken cooked in ketchup and mustard - didn't even taste like Chinese
Ordered also Twice cooked Pork - no Pork - and the Spring Rolls worse than ever . Tasted lowest than a microwave hot dog .
They must be only open cooking broth with onions because that's all we got with our entrees - cabbage watered down was the pork . So disappointing. The whole complex is shut down. Except for Subway maybe I should of gone there for $50.00 . At least I know what I'm getting .

The COVID pandemic has not been kind to this location. Their small footprint makes for a packed in location, so social distancing is tough.
Even waiting for takeout is a chore. No patio, so that is not an option. This is a little storefront restaurant, buried in a shopping center that is just about dead, that offers really good food at a really reasonable price. It is small, maybe 20 or so tables, but the staff is always friendly and attentive, and overall the experience out strips the location. You can almost always get a table, they do a great deal of their business in take-out.

Love this place. Sure. They have an occasional 'off' night but even the 'off' night is good. Tonight was the norm and it was excellent. The Sesame chicken was just like desert. Sweet and tangy. We love the Garlic sauce and had it with both chicken and Fish Fillets. Very good. We've been enjoying their place for over 14 years. We have tried other places which are also good, but we keep coming back here.

Just had a yummy lunch which I picked up from Soul Of China. Have never eaten here before but we were all in the mood for Chinese and wanted to support a small business.
The food was really good!! I had the vegetarian Mu Shu (which I requested vegan to avoid fish sauce in case that is usually used in it), and it was really yummy. It came with four "pancakes" that are so light and delicious. I will definitely order this again!
My mom had the Shrimp Chow Fun, which she quite liked. And my dad had the Garlic Shrimp. He liked it but he did add some roasted peanuts to it that we had at

Sizzling Rice Soup:
The rice was white, rancid and totally raw, I almost broke a tooth. The broth was murky and oily. I found three shrimp, 3 itty bitty PCs of chicken and maybe 6 little squares of tasteless dry pork.
Sweet And Sour Pork:
Well where is the sour???? The coating was totally gummy and the entire taste was just some random sweetness with no other flavor to balance. Disgusting.
Pan Fried Noodle With Beef:
Couldn't chew the beef. We got all spaghetti like noodles, zero crunchy. Thank God they had lots of raw broccoli because I had some left over ranch dressing in the fridge
