Deep in the heart of Steinbeck country, nestled between the Arroyo Seco Gorge and the Ventana wilderness, lies Mesa del Sol. Our historic estate and organic winery showcases the best of Monterey County's rugged landscape and elegant wines. We're lucky enough to call this place home and now, we'd like to share it with you.
Arroyo Seco is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located about 20 miles inland from Big Sur. Straddling the Santa Lucia mountain range and the Western edge of Salinas Valley, the region is one of California's earliest recognized AVAs. The Gorge - where Mesa del Sol is perched - shelters the vineyards from gale winds and captures the coastal fog to cool our grapes.

A visit to Mesa del Sol is to travel back in time. It's a return to a simpler era, where the morning starts with the rooster's crow and the day's greatest concern is whether to read a book under the 300-year-old oak, stroll to the pond, or pluck fresh apricots from the orchard for pie. Situated on 14 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards in the upper reaches of the Arroyo Seco River Gorge, Mesa del Sol is the ideal setting to escape the everyday.
Nestled between the Santa Lucia Highlands and the Salinas Valley, Arroyo Seco is one of California's earliest recognized AVAs. Mesa del Sol sits at the western edge of the AVA, where lean, rocky soils drive our vines' roots deep into the ground. Our vines are irrigated from a thriving trout pond feeding them with living water.
Mesa del Sol's unique location and stunning views have made it a desirable destination for almost 200 years. Situated on a sun-filled mesa overlooking the sparkling Arroyo Seco River, the property was first established as a stagecoach stop in the late 1800s. Travelers headed overland to Carmel Valley or up the Arroyo Seco River to Mission San Antonio would stop to water their horses and stretch their legs.

Had a 3 night stay here for a family retreat. Never left the property the entire time. So many amenities. The grounds are beautiful, manicured & well maintained. We enjoyed laying on the lawn, playing frisbee, corn hole, basketball. Some of us took a dip in the pool. There’s also a hot tub . We Bbq’d, made s’mores. Took property walks. Endless outdoors activities. The house had comfortable beds and everyone was comfortable, happy & relaxed!

Mesa Del Sol is truly a special place. From the rolling hills and vineyards surrounding it, to the creek below, it is a beautiful oasis. The property is perfect for events, weddings, retreats, and really, gatherings of any kind. It has everything you need- many sleeping options from the main house to the cowboy house to tents, a BBQ and fantastic outdoor eating area, swimming pool, chickens, basketball, games, a pond, and one of the best rope swings ever! Not to mention the award winning wine and vineyards! It's not only beautiful and has plenty to do, but it also has such a warm atmosphere

This is a very special place to stay! I have been to Mesa Del Sol many times, for harvest parties, birthdays and family gatherings and each time I make the drive from Carmel, it feels as if I'm entering another time period. Life slows down. Everyone relaxes. There is plenty to "do" at Mesa Del Sol, but for me, it's a place to "be". Although there is wifi, I recommend turning off the connections a let Mesa Del Sol's history and peace fill you.

Our family had a great time glamping here! There was no dull moment since there're lots of activities to do; pool, bocce ball, basketball hoops, playground, swing, cooking, barbeque, chicken coop, bonfire, fish pond, etc.
You have many options to sleep: main house bedrooms, sun deck, cottages, camping tents, etc.
Had a blast disconnecting from the network/technology to spend time and share smiles with family! Too fun not a lot of actual activities were caught in camera since everyone was preoccupied with having fun.
BTW, there was wifi...but most chose to disconnect and enjoy moments the
