What an experience! I had a whole spa day followed by a birthday dinner planned for my friend's 50th birthday party. We all were in the relaxation lounge waiting for our 1 o'clock massage appointments, and my 3 friends were all called for their treatments and here I was sitting in the lounge waiting for my name to be called. 10 minutes go by past my appointment time and still nothing. Can't say enough good things about this place. Everything from the service when you're greeted at the front desk to the quality of the treatments is exceptional. I've used both Groupons and paid full price for services here and both experiences have been amazing. This is my go-to spa when I'm in South Lake Tahoe and Reno!

Wanted to treat my partner to a day at the spa for his birthday. I found a Groupon for the float tank at the Refuge and the reviews of this spa were good so I decided to give it a go.
When we got there for our appointment, the person who greeted us was nice enough, but nothing was really explained to us about what would go on for our spa day experience and she seemed very rushed. I felt like maybe they were understaffed or something because I didn't feel like the person helping me even had time (or didn't want me to) for me to ask a question.

My mom and I get massages almost every year for our birthdays, so we are no strangers to spas, and we both just had THE MOST INCREDIBLE MASSAGES.
My therapist was Timothy, and it became almost instantly evident that he takes an immense amount of pride in his profession, and has made it a science. Being in the medical field, I instantly identified his knowledge of anatomy physiology and how he has applied it. He noticed the imbalances in the way my anatomy laid at rest, and spent extra times in those areas, taking no time at all to determine what those actually were. I am blown away at how amazing

Beautiful spa located inside a non gaming hotel in downtown Reno.
I enjoyed the outdoor pool on the 4th floor for a swim and relaxation before my massage.
I loved the co-ed infrared sauna to relax my muscles. Very nice relaxation lounge before the massage. Lemon water containers for refreshments.
My massage included a glass of wine and chocolates. I loved sitting at The Rise Bar inside the spa in my cozy spa robe.
This spa is not large and has less amenities then the larger casino spas but still very enjoyable.

THE BEST MASSAGE! This is mine and my husband's second time getting couples massage here. Ladies... When you go ask for Tim! Guys... If you don't mind a man touching you and massaging you.. Tim is your guy! I don't know if I'm allowed to say what his signature move is but if you get Tim ask for it !Such a wonderful atmosphere! My husband had Terri and she is wonderful and so sweet and caring! Staff is so nice and so thoughtful! Lifetimers here as long as we keep coming to Reno! Thank you Refuge Spa for such an incredible experience, again! Can't wait for the next time!

Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! Beautiful ambiance, extremely nice staff, enjoyed my pedicure by Sarah and my massage by Terry too! The locker rooms are small but in a nice, private kind of way. All the amenities you could want. Wonderful solar sauna. Food and drinks are amazing too!!!

So I saw a couple negatives reviews which made me quite hesitant. They had a Groupon offer available for couples massage. Before purchasing I called up to ask a view questions and feel out the vibe. The receptionist was wonderful and provided me all the information needed and I ended the conversation with booking a day/time for me and my partner to get the couples massage package. I'm very excited to enjoy some of the spa services at The Refuge! I came for the launch party and was blown away by the level of thought and detail that went into making this a night to remember. The raffle, food, drinks, free massages, and STUNNING decor all caught my attention but it's the staff that really put this experience over the top. They were all friendly and informative and seemed happy that you came to check them out. Even with a ton of people walking around and yelling to their friends, the staff kept those smiles on their faces.
