The history of Parmer County would not be complete without the story of how Parmer Medical Center was established. From the beginning of Parmer County's existence it was recognized that there was a need for medical care. In 1945 the population of Parmer County was just under 5,000 and the idea of establishing a hospital took hold.
The first "hospital" (really a clinic type setting) was in the upstairs of a bank on the northwest corner of Main and 5th Street. The first physician, Dr. Dan Hampton, began practicing in this location in 1946. He resigned later that year and Dr. Cecil Simmons replaced him.

Services
Outpatient services include a full service laboratory, and a radiology department that includes routine x-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs, Mammograms, Cardiac and Doppler imaging. Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy are also available on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Parmer Medical Center (PMC) is pleased to announce the addition of physicians specializing in orthopedics, gynecology and gastrointestinal disorders.
With a comfortable, healing environment and professional caregivers that take a personal interest in your individual needs, Parmer Medical Center is a wonderful place to heal and recover. The nursing staff's primary mission is to provide quality services with competence and compassion. The small community feeling among the staff is directly reflected in the personal care each patient receives.
Physical therapy services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis includes but is not limited to modalities for pain control (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, TENS, heat and ice). Stretching and flexibility exercises, deep tissue massage, strengthening exercise, balance training, coordination activities, neuromuscular rehabilitation, cardiovascular exercise.
Because the patient's needs during recovery are unique, treatment will be tailored for the individual's situation. Recovery from illness and injury can be physically difficult. Parmer Medical Center's goal is to help you heal and gain strength so you can regain your independence and return home. I got my strength back really fast.
