Services
Relax on our sundeck and watch as ocean-bound ships pass by on their way to the open sea, or sit under the summer stars and enjoy the parade of lights as they pass in the night. The Clayton area of the 1000 Islands Region is a great place to enjoy such sites! Our campground was designed and built with the comfort and convenience of our guests in mind.
Note: A three night non-refundable deposit is required for all Holiday Weeks, including Canadian Holidays. While we are pet friendly, however due to insurance, we cannot allow certain breeds of dogs. Those breeds are pit bulls & rotwiellers and German shepherds. We ask that if you have one of these breeds, or a mixed breed with any part of these breeds in them, please do not bring them to camp at Merry Knoll.
Leave from Clayton and enjoy the beauty of the St. Lawrence River. This boat tour offers several cruises - Two Nation with a stop at Boldt Castle, Sunset Cruise, Happy Hour Cruise and Rock Island Lighthouse on a glass bottom boat. Heart Island in Alexandria Bay provides the setting for one of the saddest true love stories ever told.

Twice at this place, the first time it was mostly empty, the second time it was busy. Campground is geared mostly toward annual renters with permanent and semi permanent camps near the edge of the steep hill and beyond. Most of the wooded area consists of seasonal renters as well, sporting assorted RVs.
There are rules in place pertaining to renters, which is fine with me. Your view of the river is a ways back from the embankment, but you are allowed to hike down to the dock. Sites are quite close together, in fact, another individual was complaining about having the adjacent camp's sewer pipe

Our first time in the 1000 islands, we have been so amazed at the beauty, and gladdened by the friendliness. Here for just over a week, Jim & Joanne have made us feel right at home with a cute little spot under the trees. We had a major electrical problem and George & Jim totally saved the day. It’s a steep hill to the dock on the river, and so worth it to see the sunset. We covered about half of what we listed to try and do, so we hope we can plan to come again to Merry Knoll

The campground is clean and well maintained. The cabins are charming. The reason I won't give this place a 5 is because the lady at the front desk is rude and cold. However, the gentleman that works the ground and gives you the tour of the campground is amazing, great customer service, and very caring he made us feel at home.

The owners were wonderful! They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable.
Our site had amazing views - we totally enjoyed watching the big ships pass while enjoying our campfire.
The location of this campground was perfectly situated near all the attractions, and Canada was just 15 minutes away. Perfect!
The only issue that I had was the bathrooms/showers. The bathrooms were old and dingy. Very dark and outdated. The showers were controlled by a 5” chain that you had to pull for tepid water. To rinse your back, you’d need to be a contortionist.
