Frank had this extra space in the back that he wanted to open a delicatessen and he wanted Susan and I to bring that idea to life. At the time I was working as the Executive Chef at Hunting Creek Country Club, and Susan was busy managing Animal Crackers Clothing store in St. Matthews. We are both classically trained Chefs.
I cut my chops on the east coast, and Susan graduated from LaVarenne in Paris where she became a master at Pastries. Neither one of us had a clue about running a delicatessen, let alone going into business for ourselves. After much thought we decided that I would keep my job and she would leave Animal Crackers to open the deli with my support.

Services
Stevens & Stevens is an authentic NYC-style deli with a healthy twist. We take great pride in using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible. In fact, much of our produce comes from our own farm and orchards. Of course, you'll find we offer classic deli stalwarts such as corned beef and pastrami, piled high, just the way you like it.

I have never had so many problems at one meal ever. I was served a burnt sandwich which should have never been served to begin with. Then I found a hair in it as well. The sandwich was one piece of bread for $8.50 with maybe 1oz of topping, seriously?! They replaced it for something else but still, quality control. Then I almost finished my soup which was good until I found parchment paper in my mouth. As a former owner and manager of restaurants fix your food prep.

No respect for customers, unless you're the perfect customer. They will snap at you if you don't order in a limited amount of time, they focus so much on speed that even basic cleanliness goes out the door. I am looking into a health inspection, during a lunch rush, a cleaning rag was being failed around the cutting board, at one point it landed on a bottom peice of bread, they took it off, and continued to make the sandwich. For real, priorities need to be fixed, stop trying to be fast than Jimmy John's, make a quality product for your customer, the customer that has randomly wondered in your

I've been here several times but not in a long while. The wife and I were out and about and decided on a quick stop to grab a lunch. Very pleased that we decided on Stevens and Stevens.
The menu is huge and entertaining, packed with well-loved options. The food was prepared quickly and the place was busy. Soups, veggies, sandwiches, desserts, drinks everything you need. Prices are reasonable and the portions were good sized.
Many have said it but it really does ooze out a New York deli vibe but with a distinct Louisville flavor. Lots to look at on the walls while you eat.
