I help adults who are facing difficult situations and feeling disconnected, reactive, wounded, or alone. You may notice it in your relationship with loved ones, thoughts of fear and confusion after the day is done, a sense of disconnection in the moment or with people, a feeling of overwhelm, or a vague sense of fear, discouragement, or threat.
You may notice it as anger. You may be aware that past traumas are intruding on your life, but not want to dredge it up, and not feel safe touching it. You may feel discouraged about where to turn, who to trust, and uncertain if anyone can really meet you in the way you need. This happens to all of us.

Services
My history and training is in traditional psychotherapy, somatic psychology, trauma, and mindfulness. I approach psychotherapy from a body-led orientation, with the practice of mindfulness and the science of interpersonal neurobiology informing my presence in session. I have found that the way we are together can effect profound change, recognized and held in the dyad between us.
Groups are available periodically, most notably Mindfulness for Psychotherapy and Group Process for Psychotherapy. Please email to be notified of start dates. Group fees are $50 per session. I offer in-services and presentations on trauma and mindfulness as a resource for professionals and those they serve.
My practice is part of Shala (Sanskrit for "home"), a community of like-minded individual practitioners in downtown Charlottesville. Parking is available either on the street or in the Water Street Garage, which is three blocks away. If you park in the Water Street Garage, the first hour comes free and I can give you a stamp for your second hour free.
We sit together to access the health that is at the center of every human being, even when one of us can't feel it. We sit because healing happens in relationship, access to true self is made easier in the presence of another person's settled nervous system, and because your healing matters for the health of all of us.
This is a general psychotherapy group, drawing on the power of group dynamics to provide support, challenge, holding of emotion, process of personal issues, and practice relating in openness. It is a rolling group with a limit of seven participants, 90 minutes in length. Establishing a mindfulness practice can be very helpful to making progress in psychotherapy.
