During sessions, we explore together the underlying causes and meaning of your distress, so that painful feelings from the past can be processed in a safe, supportive environment. This is a primary method of psychodynamic psychotherapy. Our work can be enhanced, if you choose, by using mindfulness to help you develop the skills that facilitate the healing of your emotional pain.

As a person who has both worked in the field and seen him for therapy myself to work on some issues, I can say that Eliot is one of the best counselors I have encountered. Mindfulness is indeed a central part of his approach, which has been very helpful to me and others I know who have seen him, and I am not sure how one could begin to face difficult emotions or trauma without this practice. Eliot Singer is an absolutely horrible counselor. I came here when I was at my most depressed and found someone who only wanted my money. He frequently will check the clock and push you out of the room if you go past 50 minutes. If he is uninterested in what you have to say he makes little attempt to disguise it. He pushes a pseudo-philosophy of mindfulness and is absolutely clueless. He will charge you for meetings that you haven't had and not tell you about them until he has sent them to the collection agency.
