Dr. Cangas is a big kid. For most adults, this would make a professional career difficult. For Dr. Cangas, it is his biggest strength. Services
Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. A pediatric dentist has two to three years specialty training following dental school and limits his/her practice to treating children only. Pediatric dentists are primary and specialty oral care providers for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health needs.
The first visit consists of a comprehensive exam, a cleaning, and, if teeth are present, a fluoride treatment. Dr. Cangas will check your child's teeth, gums, and evaluate his/her growth and development. It is best to describe this in terms your child will understand. Dr. Cangas and his staff were awesome with my son. We had to go for a sedated extraction and he was incredibly accommodating to fit him in in a timely manner. It was a very smooth process! Everyone at this practice has always been very welcoming and made my children feel comfortable.
My daughter recently needed a dental procedure and I was very nervous due to her anxiety but Dr. Cangas was amazing, he did a beautiful job and made her feel comfortable and at ease. I worried for nothing! They are very honest and thorough and we appreciate it so much!

Dr. Cangas has us as patients for as long as we can stay. My son has a rare congenital disorder, and for the most part doctors enter the room and ask me to explain the condition to them, or worse, don't bother to look at his history at all and I have to tell them. Dr. Cangas entered the room with a few questions, but it was obvious in the questions that he had reviewed my son's history (which is pretty lengthy). My son has seen A LOT of specialists, and I can honestly say no one has reviewed his history in such detail....and my son was only there for a routine dental cleaning. This speaks volumes

We’ve always loved Dental Derby and felt so comfortable in Dr. Cangas and his team’s care. But yesterday our daughter took a bad fall at school and hit her mouth. The Dental Derby team got us in for an emergency appointment minutes after I called, even though it was when they were closing for the day. Dr. Cangas calmed my fears about teeth and gum damage but suggested stitches for the lip, which the pediatrician agreed with...so he got me going in the right direction right away. My five children have been going to Dental Derby since it opened. This is an exceptional practice staffed with professionals who are invested in their patients and love children. They have always been honest and caring, and they have only recommended treatment that was absolutely necessary. My adult, married children are now taking their own children to this wonderful practice. All of my children would have loved to stay with the Dental Derby team through adulthood if possible! I wish I could give it more stars!!!!!

I’m not one to quickly trust a dentist for my family since I have had bad experiences before, but I’m happy to say Dr. Cangas has been extremely supportive and informative throughout my experience with Dental Derby. We have literally been to dentists all over the country, as we move a lot for work. This is hands down the least professional dentist we have ever seen. He is smooth talking and condescending and every single parent who I’ve ever talked to that goes there (even the ones who LOVE him) seems to have a kid who needs dental work that other dentists don’t recommend but is expensive. He recommended some things to us and everything was a lecture. Even x rays, which I told him that every other dentist we had ever seen agreed was unnecessary on a 3.5 year old and he lectured me that I wasn’t letting

Dental Derby is an amazing pediatric dental practice. The staff was wonderful and the practice was so well run even with the changes they had to do due to COVID. Dr. Lim is fantastic! She takes time to put the kids at ease and explains her evaluation with the parents along with any treatment options needed. My girls had such a good experience that they can't wait to go back for their next check up! I highly recommend this practice.

I am so thankful for all the wonderful staff and DDS Cangas. They went above and beyond to make sure my daughter was relaxed enough to get her tongue and lip tie surgery. Answered any questions, were quick to let us know if we had any problems to call them, and she even got to pick out her prize before sedation so she would get the prize she wanted! Highly recommend this pediatric dentist to all!

My granddaughter had her tongue-tie corrected by Dr. Cangas this past Tuesday and the treatment and care she received was amazing. She received conscious sedation, but they ensured she received her DERBY dollars prior to the surgery so she could pick her prize. We were informed of every step of the procedure and aftercare instructions were reviewed. The staff was very helpful. Warm, inviting, fun atmosphere!

We had such an amazing experience here today, and I would highly recommend Dental Derby! My 3 week old daughter had a major tongue tie and lip tie, and these were creating serious problems for the both of us while breastfeeding (I nursed my first child for 16 months, so I KNEW something was not right with this newest little nursling). After speaking with a local lactation consultant, it became clear that my daughter was going to need a frenectomy. I would give Dr. Congas and his staff 10 stars if possible! My 7 year old daughter developed a toothache over the weekend and I called 2 local pediatric dentists in Moore county first thing Monday morning, but no one had an opening even for an emergency for several days. I called Dental Derby and explained the situation and we had an appointment for 2 hours later! Our family loves Dental Derby. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The office is immaculate and decorated perfectly for the derby theme. Dr. Cangas is the best pediatric dentist we have been to. He relates so well with children. He explains things to them in a kid friendly way and is really positive in his interactions with both kids and the parents. What an awesome dental experience for kids! I took my 2 and 4 year old and they were so great with them! The kids loved the movies in the ceiling and the Derby Dollars and picking out a prize after the appointment! And I loved the personal attention and the score card with all the info from the appt! The doctor was great and obviously loves kids and what his does. It certainly showed! We can't wait to go back and get more Derby Dollars! :)

I took my daughter who is just over 2 years old to her second ever appointment and it went much better than I had expected. Dr. Cangas has a military backyard, highly educated and experienced; with that he was very patient, informative and friendly.
