Services
A pediatric dentist has an additional two to three years of intensive, specialized training after dental school, which focuses on the oral health of the child from infancy through their teenage years. In addition to their medical training, the doctors study behavioral techniques designed to ensure that every patient, from the very young, to pre-teens, to teenagers, experience a smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable visit.
We are excited to meet you and your child at their first appointment. If this is your child's first visit to the dentist (or their first time to our office) it is a very important time, and we know that it will be a great experience! Our goal is to build a steady relationship that will last for years in a trusting, comfortable environment and will promote good oral health and habits that will last a lifetime.
Your child's teeth will be cleaned to remove bacterial plaque and calculus (hard tarter deposits) that can cause gum disease and tooth decay. Topical fluoride will be applied to the teeth to make them stronger and more resistant to tooth decay. A thorough cleaning and fluoride treatment every six months has been shown to be an extremely effective way to prevent dental disease.
We are pleased to offer a fun facility with experienced doctors and a trained staff to provide care to our patients. Our staff obtains the cooperation of our child and adolescent patients by use of warmth, friendliness, humor, charm, gentleness, kindness and understanding. There are several behavior management techniques used during a visit with a patient.
The scheduled appointment is reserved specifically for your child. Any change in this appointment affects many patients. If a cancellation is unavoidable, please call the office at least 24 hours in advance so that we may give that time to another patient. All restorative (fillings, extractions, etc.) procedures are scheduled in the morning.

Today was my 2 year old sons first dental appointment ever. I rarely write reviews but can’t help but to take a moment and thank the staff at Powers Pediatric. The receptionist Gloria was a pleasure to speak with and I cannot say enough kind words in regards to Lauren and Dr. Powers. It’s seldom that you can find people in today’s society who… actually care about the needs of others. These two were both extremely patient with my son and took the time to really talk to me in reference to the issue that he was being seen for. In a world where people can be so cruel, it&rsquo
