For 13 generations the Van Emburgh family has had the privilege of calling Ridgewood their home. The family itself has a long rich history in the village, something they are quite proud of, and today many descendants of the original settlers still reside here.
In 1698, for the sum of 32 pounds and 10 shillings, Dr. Johannes Van Emburgh purchased 500 acres of land from Peter Johnson and proceeded to build the first home in what we now refer to as the Village of Ridgewood.Although the original dwelling no longer stands, several Dutch Colonial homes similar to the one constructed over 300 years ago still cavas the area.

Cremation is an alternative to earth burial or mausoleum entombment: It does not limit the funeral in any way. Should you choose cremation, you will still have the same options for memorialization that any other family has. Cremation can take place before or after the funeral service. Cremation is a less costly alternative to a traditional casket burial.
The C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home finds true value in paying proper respects to military and veteran's as they lived and as they passed on. We are committed to offering burial and memorial services that honor, respect and pay tribute. The Basic Military Funeral Honors ceremony consist of folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for weddings, our children's education, family vacations and other significant life events. We also plan for some unexpected events by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to make their own arrangements ahead of time instead of leaving that burden to family members.

Thank you to Funeral Director James Croonquist at CC Van Emburgh in Ridgewood. During the most difficult time he did all he could to make things as easy as possible while providing options to make the service personal and just what I wanted. Very professional and kind as well as knowledgeable. I highly recommend the funeral home.

When my father passed away, I accompanied my mother to the funeral home for their meeting. James did such a wonderful job walking through the process, ensuring we understood our options at each step. We were able to select what we wanted and was very respectful of my father's and our wishes, judgement-free and with no pressure. He was able to give guidance and provide what we needed to bring our father home. My family is very grateful for their support during this difficult time. We would give our highest recommendation for all of their care.

Not only are they thorough and complete in their knowledge in helping to plan a delightful heartfelt burial ...... they are open and gracious . C.C. Van Emburgh Funerl Home has been where all of my parents and grandparents have had viewing and funeral services and internment services. My dear mother passed away last week and the complete and total handling of every aspect of her death through to internment was handled by James. Of all the funerals we have had at Van Emburgh's, this was the most efficient, organized, loving, and beautiful. The video created on the obituary page on their website is just outstanding. I want to leave a special thanks to James who handled all the arrangements for the burial of my beautiful and loving wife Lucy Filho and mother of Iscarllatt S. From the very beginning James was professional, meticulous in detail, very oriented and just as important he was compassionate and truly felt our pain. At the very end at the burial site James seemed part of our family. Thank you David from my entire family for . your professionalism, kindness and compassion. One might expect all of that but in my opinion you went above and beyond . The process of burial is so overwhelming and sensitive but you took care of every detail , anticipating our every need . Everything went so smoothly and we truly appreciated that in particular on a day that was so difficult , My cousins are all still raving about the cleverness of having the limos to take us into Brooklyn.
