A five star auction house. has THE best things, and even though it’s an auction, and you can win or lose, the prices are great. the premium is hefty but still worth it. customer service is great, and if you buy something big they will help you move it. i’ve bought countless things from this auction, and I plan on still doing so.

Michaans is the place to go. Their Annex, and gallery have very high end things, beautiful antiques, and sometimes great prices. Have bought many items from here, all very high end pieces, and i’ve never been disappointed with price, or the item! Customer service is mediocre, but making an appointment is easy, and the caller is very kind. Most of the bad reviews are little things that can go wrong anywhere. It’s always worth a try

Totally unprofessional. This place is run like a small mom and pop grocery. Nobody's certain whats going on. They make it up as they go along.
Do yourself a favor and find another auction that is not full of games and excuses. They cost me a huge amount of money! Dont let it happen to you..

I had a terrible experience trying to have coins appraised as well as an official ML baseball signed by a hall of fame home-run king. The coin appraiser was rude, brusque and did not even try to look at the coins. He said he needed a microscope. Why didn't he have one available? In the end I was more of an expert than he. I waited an hour and half for the baseball appraiser to show up. When he did he told me all about the player but said he did not know what his signature looked like. Why not? Shouldn't an appraiser have resources? This is a business apparently filled with amateurs.

This company has a great buying experience with a really sleek app and cool bidding interface. However, after making a purchase you are in for a few unpleasant surprises. First of all, you can only pick items up on weekdays between 9 and 4:30 so anyone with a job needs to take time off work in order to purchase which is a real hardship for their customers. Secondly, there is a 23% buyers premium that is explained somewhere in the fine print on the app that you will be surprised with upon pickup unless you have methodically combed through the terms and conditions. Thirdly many photos on the app

Just Plain and rude customer service. I called to make a payment and was talked to like no other place has done before. What part of customer service don’t you understand? We are all Humans, We the customers are buyers, sellers and payers but most importantly we are Humans.

We were totally and pleasantly surprised when we attended Michaans drop in appraisal event. The receptionist was efficient, courteous and went out of her way to provide chairs for people waiting. The experts we talked to - Annie Zeng and Paul Novak - were both informative and very respectful of the items we brought in. We'd definitely recommend their appraisal service to anyone curious about the origins and potential value of a treasured item.

This review is for the excellent experience I had with Ms. Elise Coronado and her assistant Meredith in the jewelry department. I emailed Ms. Coronado re several jewelry items, and she responded promptly and set up an in person evaluation (following all COVID safety precautions). Elise was very generous with her time, and it was quite a treat listening to her give thoughtful explanations and extensive knowledge re the history behind certain gems, etc, etc, even though my items were by far "small change" and not high value items. She gave me estimates on the spot which seemed reasonable

Appalling!!!
I was hospitalized with Covid 19 and this auction house filed a dispute on my Live Auctioneers acct. When I was released from the hospital, I contacted them and tried to pay for the items, My invoice was less than 30 days past due. They said I could no longer buy the items and they would not take the dispute off my account. What in the world is wrong with these people???? Their other bad reviews speak volumes. Clars auction house would never do such a thing!!!

Posting a follow up to my previous review. A different representative from Michaan's (T.E.) reached out to help remedy the situation. She was awesome and exactly the type of person one would want to speak with when trying to address a problem. Long story short, they ultimately made the situation right by me and for that I am grateful. After speaking with her, I am left with a much more positive feeling about the company and would 100% consider dealing with them in the future. I just wish I didn't have to go through this experience in the first place. It could have been so easily avoided

Their business model has changed due to our current world situation, but their service continues to be outstanding. In particular I need to mention their staff. The hiring manager has done a great job with the current team. In the office that's are two fantastic ladies. Tammy who has alwAys been helpful, knowledgeable and cool. Now Regan who has just the right disposition and attitude for a service position with face to face interaction. She is a gem!
In the warehouse I need to acknowledge Desmond who is outstanding as well. Always helpful and always on point.

I appreciate your efforts

Brought them some high quality gem jewelry for selling, The price I told them is the lowest price I can accept, but they sold them in just half price which is incredible low price on April 11th. A 10ct aquamarine with 14K white gold pendant is sold for $275, blue sapphire 18k yellow gold ring with diamonds $300, Pink sapphire 18K yellow gold ring sold for $500, each item with GIA certificate, these money can even buy the gemstone!
I try to contact them, they don’t wanna answer, anyone who bought my item, just let me know.

Decent inventory. Yet, every single item (40-50 of them, across 5-7 auctions over several years) that I won when leaving absentee bids, I got at my maximum bids. While theoretically it can happen, but not in 100% of cases. For comparison, at auctions where there is integrity to their processes (e.g. Clars), I would get 50-60% of items below my maximum bids. My 5 cents.

Michaan's sale in October 2018 was my first auction eand a real learning experience. We offered ancient Asian items I inherited 35 years earlier that had come into my family over 70 years ago. The only thing that seemed strange was that one item sold for 50 times the Michaan estimate. Of course I was delighted. Because of that I now realize that selling at auction can be like gambling. If you are lucky enough for your sale to have more than one buyer who knows the value of an item you may come out a winner, but clearly both seller and buyer should go into an auction with some knowledge of the market

People are people. And at Michaan's, appraisers are no different. You will meet with all kinds of appraisers, ones that are kind, friendly, polite, informative, and knowledgeable of history in one capacity or another. Appraisers that should keep in mind should you need their assistance again, because many are not just Michaan's appraisers, but are learn-ed individuals with a breadth of history and details that when you hear them talk it's like if someone was reading from a great book to you, and many of these appraisers move on to bigger and better things and aren't there for

I have attended two live auctions and two gallery previews through MIchaan's and have enjoyed the experiences as well as obtained a few new items for my business. Michaan's is clear and upfront about the auction "details" so there are no surprises about fees and payment.
My first experience with Michaan's was the Playland Not At The Beach auction which was fun. When the pickup day came around Michaan's staff was front and center to ensure that everything was smooth for the buyers. I want to give a special "Thank You" to Tammy Toban who is always so informative

Great customer service..overwhelmed at trying to sell items from an estate. When transporting a diningroom set to the Auction house, we tied it down improperly. The man receiving the goods saw that the leg of the hutch now been broken. He was so good with us; calmed me down , took the hutch and said they would take care of repairing it.

They sold all the pieces at a realistic price; they were extremely efficient in getting us our payment check promptly.

Greatly appreciated the burden they took off us.

I have read all of the bad & good reviews & must say I had a Five Star experience dealing with Appraiser Paul Novak, Fine Art Department member Kyrah Reddey and today Sylvia at the desk. It's an off day yet she was able to locate & return my painting. I say this even though my painting attributed to Arthur B. Carles did not sell despite being offered in two auctions. While I admit to being a small-time player in the local art market I co-owned a gallery in Abington, PA in the early 1970's, dealt with private dealers & gallery owners in Philadelphia & New York &

I am always amazed at how rude and un-accomodating this auction house can be.
Mr. Michaan, you really need to wake up and realize why Clars is so ahead of you in the game...

PS-Tammy and Sylvia need to go work in some sort of government office, where their co-workers are as rude as they are.

WARNING DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH ANY OF YOUR VALUABLES!!! This place is a NIGHTMARE!

I brought in a coule paintings of my mother's, who has been struggling with Alzheimer's and been needing a great deal of care. The staff here is arrogant, rude, unprofessional, and ruined one of our paintings. After repeated attempts to contact them and get an update after one of the pieces sold at auction 3 voicemails to get an update on the status went unanswered. I then made an appointment to go in person. When I got to Michaan's for my appointment with the "Fine Art Manager" Kyrah Reddy
