Amer's Delicatessen
The concept of Amer's Mediterranean Deli was created in 1987. It is the marriage of a coffee house and a quality delicatessen. It originated near the University of Michigan, Flint campus and moved to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor campus in 1989. We have worked and thrived within this amazing community ever since.

We strive to achieve an enriching environment splashed with an air of fun in which to tantalize all of the customer's senses. To this end, Amer's lends itself to a collegiate atmosphere with brick walls, large windows, cherry seating, a brightly lit European pastry display case, track lighting, and attractive menu boards.
Services
Amer's uses products and foods of the highest quality and strives to serve our customers with grace and speed. All of our products from the coffee, tea, chocolate, pastries, breads, meats, cheeses and over 30 freshly made salads to the finest produce have been tested and perfected over our 33 year lifespan.

I love the açaí bowls from here! The sandwiches are hit and miss. They are amazing sometimes and other times the bread is stale. I ordered baklava to take home to my daughter for $2.50 I got this tiny piece….. a bit upset at the size

My wife does not understand how there can be so much flavor from her sandwich! Of all the places we have tried while visiting Ann Arbor this is now hands down our favorite. They have a very large menu with options for any pallet, and the food is incredible. I just wish it was easier to find parking.

I was here with my family a few nights ago.
I ordered Reuben #1 & my husband got Reuben #2 and his son got a roast beef sandwich.
Their food was pretty good. I’m a Reuben lover and I tried so many of them so far and I would say this Reuben was also good.
The reason I’m giving it 4 stars is only because of the place itself. They need to take care of it a bit more. The floor was a bit messy but other than that I liked everything here.
If you’re not planning to dine in, it could be the best option for take out.

Sandwiches are well priced and taste great. The staff is friendly and attentive. A great place to get a solid deli sandwich on your way to class. I haven't tried the rest of their menu but I have no doubt it is all equally good.

Great place to get sandwiches! Brisket is better than corned beef…great fries and a great Greek Salad. But every time I order I never get any of the extras I ask for and offer to pay for, such as extra Russian dressing, ketchup for our fries, silverware for the salad. Sometimes I order when we are not at home and need some of these things… why do you have a space to ask for extras if you never look at it? I was at a church working the other day and bought us lunch. We ate the salad with our fingers, no ketchup for fries. Other than that you have great food!

Better sandwiches from Kroger for 1/5th the price. Also took 20 minutes to make.... This. Pretty bad compared to most other food in the area

When we went it was very busy and I felt for the employees. The owner explained they were understaffed and doing the best they could, and boy they were hustling, especially the owner! I really appreciated it, and it helped me overlook an later to go pickup time then told and a mistake on our order (reasons I do have to take away a star). But we got one of the turkey sandwiches and an açaí bowl and both were delicious! Really strange they just sprinkled the added whey protein on top instead of mixing in, but we did it and it was delicious! They weren't perfect but they were making it work

.The establishment has been consistently clean.

.The service has been consistently good

.Tart yogurt is phenomenal

.Air conditioning is working consistently, and it's comfortable, cool and pleasant to sit inside

.Their sandwiches are awesome even if you like a more boring option. The meat is plentiful and there are so many bread options.

.Their crepes are decadent and their açaí bowls are well made.

.Smoothies taste great, are a nice texture and a good healthy option

Everyone can find something they'd like here.
I haven't tried their

Highly recommend their Amazon bowl: açaí bowl with strawberries, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, and honey. Looks small, but is very filling and super refreshing.

You get more for you money here than Zingermans. Some of the sandwiches are huge. The Acai bowls are also very good.

I had an amazing experience at Amer's! I had a lot of work to catch up on and I ordered myself a Berry Acai Bowl and it was one of the best that I have had. The fruit tasted fresh and it blended really well together. The honey was just the cherry on top! The whole bowl was fresh, flavorful, and filling and I look forward to ordering it again soon!

I can hardly believe my last review of Amer's Deli was over 6 years ago! This update comes in mid-December 2020 with the pandemic in full swing and the U of M college students nowhere to be found.

Amer's location, just seps from Michigan's famed Diag in the heart of the U of M campus, is normally a bustling street scene. Today, State Street was incredibly quiet offering me a prime parallel parking spot for my carryout order. Trust me...this never happens to me in downtown A2.

Amer's is a worthy competitor to Zingerman's in this town offering an incredible 88 different

Very good classic deli food. Açaí bowls are very popular, fresh, and are made super quickly. The sandwiches are also delicious but take a ridiculously long time to be made. I recommend ordering a sandwich ahead so you don't have to wait there for it.

I used to love this place. Their acai bowls are great and the menu has so many options. However, since the start of the pandemic, ive heard that they haven't been so Covid cautious. I decided to see for myself, and I was very much disappointed. Not only were they not enforcing costumers to wear masks, but the owner himself was completely maskless and the whole restaurants was pretty filthy. I ended up throwing away my food and not eating because I was so disgusted. After experiencing what I experienced, I do not plan on returning there, and I highly recommend others not to give them business

I generally order in using a variety of services. So I try as many different restaurants as I can. At least that way I can guide students, visitors, dates, or even just a night out. I used to own a restaurant and was a national hospitality consultant so I am familiar with the whys and how's of the business. I must say I lived in Chicago and worked for a good old fashioned true Jewish delicatessen. I was very satisfied with the flavor, temperature, portion, and price. As most people know restaurants can be outstanding one minute and disappointing the next. At least this experience was outstanding

Loved my meal here! Got one crepe each (eating the whole thing made me feel sick... but in the good way!) and hot chocolate. Prices were great and I was impressed with the wide range of variety on the menu- I'll definitely go back to explore it further!

I was tipped by an alumni to stop by Amer's and enjoy a New York Club (#34) so that's just what I did! There wasn't any parking within blocks of this deli on a very busy State St so I dropped off my wife and navigated the University of Michigan until it was ready. The pastrami and sauces were amazing in this tall sandwich but the pumpernickel was a bit much. I stripped off the middle layer of bread and was left with one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My only other gripe is that there should've been more lettuce since there was so much meat but blah blah blah

A little pricier than it should be and the service is a little slow, and sure it's not hip and trendy and it is definitely not "insta-worthy", but I think that's it's appeal!! It's a classic deli/coffeehouse that's been in Ann Arbor forever and it is what it is and doesn't try to be anything else which i really appreciate.

It's bizarre the variety of stuff Amer's has, there's already a huge selection of sandwiches, but there's also frozen yogurt?? And crepes?? And hot dogs?? And acai bowls?? And pancakes/breakfast?? It's pretty crazy
