Pomona West is horribly managed and their payment system is completely messed up. You can never get an accurate number when asking how much you owe throughout the year. They took our entire security deposit in 'damages', which were never explained, and cleaning fees. The management I've seen here is some of the worst I've seen in Chico and is an embarrassment to the community and a trap for college students. If I could rate this lower I would. Id give -10 stars if I could. Do not get a unit here. And think twice before giving a deposit because you will not get it back under any circumstances. They were unable to find us a unit one month before classes started in the fall. We needed housing security so we called asking if we could get our deposit back, and were told we could come back to collect it. We fixed an appointment and made the two hour drive to come here, arrived early and then waited for an entire hour and 15 minutes past the appointment time for them to tell us they cant give it to us! Rental deposit definition-Landlords are permitted to deduct from security deposits for damage or excessive filth, but in our case Pomona West deducted cleaning fees when the cleaning company said the apartment was very clean. This is a case where the apartment management is unnecessarily charging cleaning fees.

The complex management IS horrible. I've never wrote a yelp review but this is how bad my experience with them has been that I was motivated to let potential residence who are considering to live here. Unfortunately I already referred someone to living here because it is a nice complex but the management is something else. The people they hire to babysit their office don't know anything about apartment management or let alone what their job is. This complex management is horrible. The show unit that you tour looks nothing like your actual unit, every room has different carpet (blue, brown, and other office types with squares on them), there are car break ins in the parking lot and your deposit will not be returned regardless of your situation. Also everyone that moved out is billed $200 on top of their deposit for "damages" no matter what- it's basically automatic. And it is not close to Chico state like they advertise.

Don't expect the $1600 deposit back and do expect added charges for maintenance and repair when the apartment SPOTLESS clean!
Our carpets were disgusting and dirty when we moved in and nothing was done.
After a continuing dispute we got $257.00 that we were so "fortunate" to receive back.

I can tell pomona west really cares about their tenants experience, clearly noticeable in the comment they left me. Very professional.

I currently live at Pomona West Apartments. The idea of this complex is great. Large rooms, roommate matching, closed gates at night, washer/dryer in every apartment. Also, leases are separate which is a huge bonus. These are all things that I was looking for in an apartment. When looking for an apartment, it was an easy choice to pick Pomona. However, after living there for 5 months now, my feeling have changed. Like I said, the idea of this apartment complex is great. Currently, they are not meeting everything they claim to offer, as well as simply lagging in certain areas. This is the review

Pomona west is clearly the best. They provide large rooms and bathrooms. They have washer and dryer inside every unit and offer amazing individual leases. Pets are welcome and the staff is amazing. Their up keeping is superb and they provide the ultimate student living experience. If you want to live in the best, choose Pomona west!!

I've had a very pleasant experience at Pomona West. The apartments really are very spacious and the grounds are beautiful! I love the separation of the buildings, it's so much better than being cramped together in a straight line like so many other apartment complex's in Chico.
I was hesitant at first when I read the previous reviews, however my own experience was different. It seems as though they've really picked things up. I got the sense that the office staff really was trying to run smoothly. They were always nice and courteous to me.

My time at PW was pretty great. I enjoyed my time there (junior yr), and found the staff to be helpful and friendly. I never met the lady the others have referred to, so perhaps she has given control to somebody else. Anyway, the apartments are nice & big, and the double sinks are a bonus since not everybody in college is, well, hygienic. The washer & dryer were also nice to have.
The pool was nice and clean; I didn't feel like I was swimming in a cesspool or anything, and there were always lots of lovely ladies hanging out there ;) A hot tub would be nice...hint, hint.

Owner has students answering the calls, she will not talk to anyone.
Parents, please think twice about letting your students move in here. If money is no object and you dont care about getting any deposit back or being billed twice for rent and utilities, then go for it.

As I was prepping to move to chico I had absolutely no expectation to move into a place with roommates. I have had bad experiences in the past and was ready to just live by myself... but then i randomly found pomona west...
