We have had growing interest in the program for this fall and are strongly considering offering it again. Our unique approach to education helps us stand out as a top choice of Cary and Morrisville parents each year.
Services
Thank you for your interest in Discovery Child Development Center. We are an independently owned and operated preschool that has been serving students from Cary, Morrisville, Apex, Raleigh and Durham since we opened in 2010. While our official admissions period for each school year starts in January, we do admit students throughout the school year.
Discovery Child Development Center takes a project-based approach to preschool and kindergarten education where children are seen as active learners that learn through the exploration of their interests. In the project approach, students study a topic in-depth to gain a deeper understanding as well as learn through hands-on experiences about the chosen topic.
LOCATION: 11000 Lake Grove Boulevard in Morrisville, NC and are just over the border from Cary, NC. School Day Classes Operate Between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM with options for after care until 5:00 PM. The image was created for Discovery Child Development Center by graphic designer, Paul Walsh. The image represents the Vygotskian idea of learning through interactions with others.
Discovery Child Development was founded in 2010 in Morrisville, North Carolina. At the time, Dr. Alejandra Livas-Dlott was searching for a preschool for her son near her home in Cary. She decided to use her experience as both a teacher and a researcher to open her own center. She envisioned a place where students would come excited to learn each day, and could connect what they learn in the classroom to the outside world.
Our school year starts each year in late August, but students are able to start at any time during the school year, provided their is space available. When we receive an opening, we contact the first person on the waitlist and continue to fill vacancies from the waitlist throughout the school year.

The best decision I made for my kids. 2 Boys, 5 years! Every teacher was kind and showed a love for teaching! I built a connection with the teachers and they truly cared. I picked up my kids with a smile on their face every single day. This school is great place for a child to build their foundation in education.

As the preschool 2012-13 year for my daughter is now almost finished, I just wanted to post a note to say how absolutely delighted my husband and I have been with Discovery Child Development Center. Having visited numerous preschools for our daughter and attended one other, I really appreciated that this school has offered something unique - a fun, safe learning environment that stimulates curiosity and builds social and academic skills while making kids feel comfortable, welcome and excited to be there. We have been so pleased at the enthusiasm with which our daughter speaks of school and is eager
