I have been working in the mental health field for over 30 years after earning my Ph. D. from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego. I then moved to Sonoma in 1977 where I accepted a position with Sonoma County as a clinical psychologist. Working at a small outreach clinic in the town of Sonoma, I provided a wide range of psychological services ranging from crisis intervention to more long term, depth psychotherapy.
After working with the county full time for several years I shifted my position to part time and established a private psychotherapy practice. When Sonoma County closed the outreach clinic in Sonoma, I was transferred to Juvenile Hall where I worked with at- risk adolescents and their families. Along with another psychologist, we established an internship training program for doctoral level psychologists.

Services
Therapy is a process which is based on the establishment of a trusting and safe relationship with a therapist. It is within this relationship that problems, feelings, thoughts, and life goals can be discussed, explored and worked through. I see myself as a guide for you in this process. I believe that although problems sometimes seem large and overwhelming, they can be "reframed" in ways that can help you gain new perspectives.
Finding a therapist who you believe can help you, and one with whom you feel comfortable are two very important aspects of establishing a meaningful and therapeutic relationship.
To facilitate your ability to choose the right therapist for yourself, I have a policy of not charging any out of pocket expenses for the initial session if, following our first session, you feel that you would like to continue your search for a therapist that might be a "better fit."

Please be aware that it is your responsibility to know what your outpatient mental health insurance benefits are including pre-authorization, co-payments and deductibles. If you have any questions regarding your insurance coverage, I will be happy to assist you in obtaining this information. Please understand that professional services rendered are charged to you but will be billed to your insurance carrier (less any co-pay).
The Office is located at 454 West Napa St. in downtown Sonoma. It is directly across the street from Safeway and Scooteria. It is next door to Well's Fargo Bank. There is parking in the back parking lot of the building which is accessible from either Napa Street or Church Street. The entrance to the office is off the parking lot in the back of the building as well.
