We are now offering genetic testing to test whether our macular degeneration patients are "zinc-sensitive". This testing will be offered starting in mid-August of 2021. Some recent studies have show that if a person is "zinc-sensitive" and they take vitamins containing zinc it might increase their risk of progression rather than decrease it.
There are now affordable genetic tests available with just a swab of the inside of your cheek. At your appointment, ask to have this scheduled for you. Because of this, we give a special 20% "2nd Pair" discount to additional complete pairs of prescription glasses or sunglasses of equal or lesser value to the first pair purchased on the same day. There is no limit to how many pairs of glasses you can purchase and each complete pair (must purchase both frames & lenses) of equal or lesser value purchased after the first pair will receive the 20% discount--3rd pair, 4th pair, etc.
This Spring of 2021, Dr. Emde traveled with the high school students of Greeneville Adventist Academy (GAA), one of our community's local K-12 Christian church schools, to serve those in need in the country of Costa Rica. They provided free vision care and glasses to several small communities within the region of Abangeres.
We are proud to have opened the EVEC Advanced Testing & Treatment Center in the lower floor of our building! This will provide us the space to offer more advanced technologies to detect and treat eye conditions for our patients. For example, we are now offering LipiScan & LipiFlow in Greeneville! We are the first and only office in Greeneville who offers this state-of-the-art therapy for dry eye sufferers and which has become the gold standard!
