Services
We're not afraid to have our heads in the clouds. You could even say dreaming big is what Oliver Winery does best. What started as a hobby back in the 1960s, has grown Oliver Winery into an one of the largest wineries in the U.S. We are also a world-class destination, ranked among Travel + Leisure's top 25 wineries to visit in the U.S. in 2017.
Oliver Winery started from modest roots back in the 1960s, as a hobby of Indiana University law professor William Oliver. His enthusiasm for the craft led him to establish a vineyard northwest of Bloomington, in the Indiana Uplands AVA. Soon, the flourishing vines produced grapes far in excess of his needs as a hobby winemaker, so he began plans to open a commercial winery.
Join us for shopping, wine by the glass or bottle, reserved tastings and self-guided flight experiences. Patio seating is very limited, especially on Friday and Saturday. For an overview of the most important details to know, visit our blog. If you stop by (can't wait to see you!), you'll be greeted by an Oliver staffer.
Sip some semi-sweet perfection (and say that five times fast!). Sweet wines are our bread and butter: we love to make them, and we make them well. From one of the top sweet red wines in the U.S., to a refreshing sweet rose, or the fun and fruit-forward Cherry Moscato, you will find your favorite "anytime wine" to turn ordinary days into delicious occasions.
Bright aromas and rich flavors characterize our collection of artfully-crafted, award-winning dry red wines. Oliver Winery has been crafting dry red varietal wines since 1984. We like them on their own, or with savory pairings like roasted red meats and hard cheeses, to complement our fruit-forward style and approachable tannins.

Oliver Winery was a great experience. They were offering a wine flight. We decided to reserve a spot because we wanted to do a wine tasting. They were offering this so it is easy to social distance. We loved Oliver. It was such a beautiful setting. The fall foliage around the pond they have was spectacular. There were little paths to walk in and picnic tables. It was so lovely and relaxing. We took the wine flight and really enjoyed our wine tasting. I love how they tell you about the different wines you are tasting. They really got us to slow down and enjoy everything. My fiancé and I loved the

My husband and I have loved the Oliver wines ever since we discovered their meads several years back. So for our anniversary we decided to travel to the great state of Indiana to visit the winery. It was a beautiful day and the tasting experience was fun. We discovered so many more wonderful wines that we can't get back home, so we of course had to stock up. We can't wait to visit again!

I haven't been to Oliver in several years and stopped in after shopping in Bloomington with a friend. The grounds are beautiful and on a nice (warmer!) day a picnic out by the pond would be a nice afternoon out.
We visited several wineries and something that set Oliver apart was their process and presentation. Our wine flights were generous and served in little carafes with glasses. This is an especially nice touch after doing tastings from little plastic cups. And it was nice to share wines that we wanted but didn't have room for in our own flight! However, this slowed us down and since

Long time Oliver wine drinker…
But first time drinking at the winery.
Oliver sweet wine is MY FAVORITE. It’s like drinking down adult fancy grape juice. And never gives me a headache….
Anyways about the winery….
Did the Halloween Candy and Wine Pairing.
Weather was wonderful, plus we had a great view of the pond area.
The host was informative and fun. I had gone in thinking it was a “go at your leisure” type thing but it was more formal than that but still very casual.
The pairings were good. I can’t wait to attend another event here.

This place is SO BEAUTIFUL! We went in a Sunday and the entire winery and surrounding grounds were pretty and decorated for fall. I like wines on the drier side so we got a Sauvignon Blanc wine and it was great for a hot day. The wines and snacks were also very reasonably processed. It is an hour drive from us, but the drive is worth it and we will definitely be back to try some red wines this winter.

I don't normally start off my Yelp reviews by bragging about my wine certifications, but just for context, I am a Certified Wine Specialist and have passed the WSET level 3 wine certification. So it is hard for me to appreciate most Indiana wines. (Yes, I may be a bit of a wine snob.) Oliver is in a class of its own among Indiana wineries. Yes, they have the Oliver Soft Red and other sweet wines, as they should, because that's what a lot of people around here like to drink. But they also have some seriously good dry wines. The Creekbend III and Reserve Shiraz are fantastic, high quality

We had a great visit here. Me and my wife came here for our anniversary for a date. I am not a big wine guy but my wife is. We did the wine flight which was nice because I got to try a lot to figure out which ones I liked and disliked. A very neat environment. After our tasting we relaxed outside with a bottle. Highly recommended.

We visited Thursday 9/2 and had a picnic reservation.
Wow! Service was friendly, the picnic basket was carefully curated and met our high expectations.
My only suggestion would be to have let us choose our table.. no one else was there and we would've preferred a less obstructed view :/
Overall though a 5/5 experience. Thank you so much Oliver Winery for a wonderful anniversary activity.

Oliver is such a cute place for a girls day trip or a date! This is my second time here and I can't believe it's been 3 years since my last visit. The service was amazing and although the tasting room was closed which was a bummer we still got some amazing wine flights for a good price. This place has some of everything from the dry wine lovers to the sweet. I opted for a combination since I'm typically a dry wine person, but some of the sweet flavors just sounded so yummy. My favorite sweet wine was the ginger peach. We snacked on a couple cheese trays with salami, some olives,

Oliver Winery is hands down one of the cleanest and most inviting places I have visited over the course of the past year. It always brings a smile to my face to be able to enjoy wonderful Indiana made wines with friends and family in such a rich and colorful environment. Recently went for a Picnic Experience and oh my goodness, even in the rain Oliver delivered a wonderful experience that greatly pleased my Parter and I. Top-notch and friendly service I cannot recommend them enough for a day trip down to Southern Indiana.

We stopped by Oliver Winery on our way to Bloomington, IN.
The hillside was beautiful, especially on warm sunny days!
There were a lot of sweet wines to choose from. My favorite ones were the blueberry and cherry moscatos. They were delicious, unique, and very reasonably priced!
They were taking COVID-19 precautions when we were there end of April/early May 2021. Wines were served in plastic cups and everyone inside the winery had their masks on.
We did not do any tastings and did not make any reservations. We walked in, the staff were friendly and greeted us at the door to show us the wine

This was our first trip back down here since Covid started settling down and we had a delightful visit. They are doing self guided wine tastings throughout operating hours in addition to the reserved tastings which are only at set times. They don't guarantee patio seating for the self guided flights, but it was a rainy weekday and they had lots of room on the patio. You have a choice of 4 tasting flights of 5 selections for around $15 each flight which is a good deal as it is the equivalent of 2 glasses of wine. I had the dry flight which was excellent and included the Shiraz reserve

Oliver is... fine. The hillside is beautiful and it's a great place for a picnic. There are a lot of fruity and sweet wines for those so inclined. It's cool, cheap, and unlike much else in that part of the state. If you're actually into *good* wine, there is very little to be excited about. But there are a few decent options (the shiraz reserve would be my recommendation). It's a good place to take your mom.
I was straight up OFFENDED, however, on my visit this weekend when they refused to provide us with wine glasses when I bought a bottle to take outside, and instead gave

My initial review of Oliver Winery was five stars. Until our visit on 4/17/21, our visits here were always stellar and enjoyable. My husband and I have always been huge fans of the wine and the top-notch customer service. Well, sadly, pleasing customers no longer appears to be a top priority. After driving two hours to get here, while visiting Indy for a soccer tournament, we were told that tastings were by reservation only. I understand that precautions are needed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but other wineries have figured out how to safely allow tastings in this era of a "new normal."

Oliver was the first winery I ever took my husband to. He was NOT a fan of wine but did a tasting here and we started lighter, sweeter and easier to drink wines.
Now, he is a lover of all wines and will drink the boldest of bold reds, whites, etc. and it's all thanks to the lovely variety and selections Oliver offers.
We wish it was closer but anytime we are in the area we have to stop in.

A very nice venue directly off the interstate filled with experimental versions, locally produced wine and a huge Oliver selection. Many items only available on site, including the Blackberry wine and recently released seasonal Lemon Moscato.
So lucky that they have have their sweet red with a hint of lime, Sangria and Blueberry or Cherry Moscato available in the retail market.

Oliver winery is a great place for a day picnic and to sip on some wine. They have plenty of outdoor space along a pond and tables for you to enjoy your beverage. The exterior is always beautifully decorated for each season and you will find lots of people doing photoshoots too because it's so nice! I recommend both blueberry or cherry moscato and the honey wine if you like sweet. While the reserved flight tastings/ packaged picnics are suspended due to covid, hopefully it starts again since it's a fun girls day trip.

My friend and I had a lovely time here. We got a picnic platter and some wine and everything was delicious especially this cream cheese dip they made. The only reason I took a star away is because I was confused about the whole thing and it seemed anticlimactic. It was my first time at a winery so maybe it's my fault but I was expecting some more education about wine or maybe a restaurant or walking through the vineyards or music. But there was like a pond you could walk around and that was it. Maybe my expectations were way off but it's a great place for a date and I would totally come

First time ever going to a Winery, and this was a great choice. I love that they had wine choices there that you could not buy in the store, such as the blackberry wine, which was my favorite out of all the tastings. $21 for a flight of 6. One thing I would say is I wish there were more options for food, like cafe items to enjoy

Oliver Winery provided us a fantastic experience. We sat in on a guided wine flight where we learned about the company and how the Oliver wine is made. Very receptive to allergies when providing food to pair with wine. An abundance of selections to purchase to take home and the cutest outdoor scenery to walk around and drink and take photos.

My graduate cohort and I went to Oliver Winery last weekend and were blown away by the beauty of the Winery. Despite being located in the middle of Indiana, Oliver mirrors the appearance and beauty of wineries that exist in California.
Currently, there is limited capacity within the Winery, but for those who are looking to enjoy a glass of wine in a socially distanced setting, Oliver offers the ability to buy bottles of wine, have them uncorked, and to pick up plastic cups before heading to the hillside to enjoy your beverage at socially distanced picnic tables. As an IU grad, I've driven by the winery so much times, and I've enjoyed many bottles of their wines, but this was my first visit! The grounds are so beautiful and peaceful. I'm proud to support this local business, which is also 100% employee owned.
If you are in the area, you should definitely plan a visit!

Oliver Winery is a household name for anyone who attended Indiana University. Sadly, even after 5 years since graduating from IU, I hadn't been to their winery location, although I had enjoyed their wines at their tasting room on the Bloomington square, as well as purchased a bottle or two here and there.
I finally had the chance to visit when I was in town and was so pleased with the experience. We found ample parking at their property and took the short but scenic walk through well-landscaped grounds from the lot to their building.
Inside, we learned that they were doing tastings every
